Tim,

Sometimes it is easier to explain everything at once rather than answer 20 questions! I thought it would make more sense if I gave the reasoning behind my hardware layout. A lot of thought went into it, but I am still not sure if I am right!

I know what you are describing, but unfortunately no radio that I know of (at least wheel radios) is capable of programming a response curve for the mixing, not even the Multiplex radio. If I had a truely fully programmable radio I could make it do what I wanted. But sometimes we need to use clumsy mechanical solutions instead of sophisticated electronic ones! :p

Hey Ian! Those turn fins look pretty hefty.

How many millimeters thick are they. Mine look like tinfoil compared to those. I run mine at more of a back angle too.

You don't have to right a thesis to explain your ideas to me! ;) You had some very interesting info: in your previous post, though. ;D

I haven't been getting home until late these days. I haven't had a chance to get a picture of my new screw posted. Hopefully tomorrow. I will be off.

Dales been awefully quite these days. Is he spending the night in the garage, or what  .

Gonna try out those plugs on Sunday, Dale. I will let you know how they work.

Hey Hammer,

Another thesis I'm afraid! Just not as long:

The turn fins are probably about 6mm at the trailing edge. However they are wedge profile like rudders, so quite sharp at the leading edge. The left fin is cut quite short, but I dont have a good pic of the right fin.

Years ago I read some literature written by Brian Callahan which explained in scientific terms why the wedge shape is best for the high speed running we do with model boats. When I built my first mono, a friend of mine had some rudder blades that had be ruined in manufacture, but would be suitable for fins, so I used those. I found that I could use much smaller fins than normal, and also my boat was very fast in corners.

Those on my current boat are custom made, I made them at the same time as the rudder and they have the same wedge angle. They are quite strong and quite effective. Since I first did it in 98 quite a few people in my club have also used them successfully.

They work quite well, but you have to be careful not to make them too large, the boat will not bank into turns if they are two big. (I can explain why but my two typing fingers would get sore! ;D )They can also be at a sharper wedge angle than rudders as there is no need for drilling, but they are too hard for me to make.

I am interested to see a pic of your new prop! (we dont call them a 'screw' in Aus, 'screw' has other connotations here! :p )

I wanted to run my mono again today, I had a Macs 15cc pipe and that titanium pipe to try, as well as a 6514/3 cut to 60mm, but the water conditions were totally unsuitable. Next week..... :-

I know that you call them props. But everyone over here call them screws. I guess the best RC boater is the guy with the most screws. I noticed that there are a few guys in the "For Sale forum" who are even selling screws.

They must have had too many screws to handle. Or...there shaft was to big for them. ( or too small)

Bye the way, Did you notice how hefty the nipples on the K90 are.

Anyway, here is the pic of my latest screw.

Hammer,

Hahaha, ;D yeah I think you have the terminology figured out!

Interesting looking prop (screw), looks a bit like a prather prop? Looks to have quite a texas cut on it. Quite low blade area for it's diameter. Very little rake-low lift?

Do you need the second water pickup? I just use a rudder pickup to do all the cooling and have no problems. That type of pickup can sometimes cause a lot of drag.

It comes with the K90 if it is distributed by Crazy Al.

There is also another sticker that says, from russia with love

Hey Dale! I passed some of the Cipolla No.7 around. They are the talk of the town. How much can you get the to me for, for the 5 plug sheets.

Hammer

Al Hobbs sent me one of those along with 2 "K-45, from Russia with Love" decals when I ordered some parts from him. Mine is in the same spot on my 'burst.

Hammer,

Talked to Dale for you as his PC is down.

Email me for the prices on the Cipolla's.
