Hey Dale, or anyone who knows for that matter. What kind of characteristics are you supposed to expect from a bar cut prop?

Hammer

Hi Hammer

A bar cut is desigend to reduce the botem end load on the engine this allows you to add more pitch. The bar cut behaves a littel like a low lift prop! Cheak out the thread on rcboat.com http://rcboat.com/prop.htm this will explaine most of the bends and cuts.

Hey Oz! Thanks for the info. I'm on my way to the URL. The tips of the prop do seem to be bent back a bit. Maybe the guy who had it tweeked it a bit.

Hammer

Wow! That URL has a lot of cool mods for Octuras. I found one that I want to try. The one where you cut the lobes of the leading edge of the X series screw. I will by a new X460/3 or X457/3 and give it a shot.

Hammer

Hammer,

I do that mod to all of my X series mono props. Probably the amount shown to cut off is a bit excessive for mono use, I trim off less than that. If you take off too much you reduce the drive off the prop and go slower, at least that is what I found.

Hey Dale!

Shimizu got some 400cc bladders in. I picked one up today. I got a new .457 to try a little blade work on it. It will be sacrificial, so if I screw it up, I still have my good one.

By the way, I'm gonna have some competition next season, because there will be at least 6 kingcrafts to run against ;D

Hammer

execlent Hammer,

depending on the motors they put in them you probably wont have that much competition hehehe

It's official. The Kingcraft is the Maker's boat of the year.

Today I went against 2 other foriegn made boats (Seaducer and Microburst) and several Japanese made boats. Kingcraft came out on top, not only winning C class mono( .90 class in Japan) , but also winning top points honor for the whole tournament, and fastest heat for all monos at 53.2 seconds. Just got back. I'm really tired, so I will fill you in with the details of the race tomorrow evening.

Hammer ;D

Yea Hammer,

I knew it would happen, just a matter of time.

Kingcraft better start building some boats!

Hey all you Aussies and anyone else that interested.

Yesterday was extremely cold -2celsius. There was no rain though, and the water conditions were superb. I cleared out the back of my van so that I could do between heat maintance in my warm car.

First heat was a breeze everyone jumped the gun except me. I stayed in the inside lane and was safe. No one was able to catch me.

53.2 seconds. Heat time top!

The second heat was a little bit more wild. I flipped going into the first turn cause I was running right up someones rear. I thought it was over, but my boat landed up right and I was still in the race. I went a little off course to gather my senses, and wound up at the back of the pack. No fear. I got right back in it full throttle and before the race was finished I had lapped everyone except the boat that came in second.

The third heat was wild as well. This time I jumped the gun. Again I floored it and was able to do my penalty lap and still come in first.

Had an awesome pass on the back stretch. Blew by the microburst like it was standing still.

Total 1200pts

1st place: Boat: KingcraftXM- engine: K90

2ndplace: Boat: Chikyudo 90- engine: O.S .91 VDF-M

3rd place: Boat: Microburst Gas Mono- engine A90

Others included Seaducer and other Japanese makers.

After the first heat, I noticed that my turn fin was bent again, I fixed it and continued. May have be caused by the flip. Very strange, There just has to be a ton of Gs attacking it in the corners. I used a 16oz framing hammer to bang it back into shape. I thought that the boat was running kinda loose in the straight in the first heat. It turned out to be the fin. After I fixed it, it stayed in shape for the next two heats.

Hammer,

you da man!! seadunkers are not the ducks guts like every one thinks they are,!! they are easy beat espically if there is some rough water about!!

we are going to make the turn fin brackets differnt this time, make the longer to support them a bit more!

Dale

Congrats, Hammer!

Everybody's gonna want one for next season. ;D

How thick is your turnfin? Aluminum?

Hammer has a 2.5mm stainless fin on his boat, we are running 3mm 6061 on them over here,

we are trying to get some stainless ones done for the next order, we are going to change the bracket to be larger and hold the fin better.

Dale

Hey Dale! The bracket for the small fin is fine. Need to do something about the big one though. If you are going to make a new one for the right side( looking at the transom) Through an extra one in the box.

I want to replace it. A new stainless fin for the right side too. Hope I'm not sounding greedy :-*
