How was it handled for the members that did not recieve the Roostertail to use to cast their vote?

Cleatus the D/B rule @ 95 should be Cast in stone. All boaters are under it & Most all others are trying to comply. Most boaters dont have a problem with the 95 DB. If it needs to be lower than 95 Maybe we all should consider Electric Boats. I hear they are Now going faster than the Nitro`s anyway....... I`am sure you would be the 1st willing to convert your 20 mono to a 99 cell Mono? (SPEEDMASTER D/C MONO) Hell just throw that troublsome Novarossi .21 in the lake & forget about it & the D.B. rule. Now all you got to worry about is those friggen generators needed to charge all those batteries.....

Noise rule passed in all districts. Results will be in the December issue of the Roostertail.

As for ballots for members that didn't receive their Roostertails you would have to ask Pat Kelley that question, he did the talleying of the votes.

There is another ballot in the December issue to Clarify what classes are elibable to run for records. They are due supposed to turned into the members District Directors by the end of January and a teleconference will be held the first week of Feburary to confirm the outcome. So if passed the new classes will go into effect at the end of March when the new rules passed go into effect.

Bill What is the next step in getting TWIN HYDRO a US-1 Class for the IMPBA  Nats.

I agree with Joe on how the twins deserve recognition, but at this rate everything will be a US-1 class soon. This brings us back to what John Finch said to me that I posted a couple weeks ago in the old 2005 Internats thread-

"Here's something else. Just got off the phone with John Finch (my race partner) & he said something quite profound when I told him about this thread. He totally agreed with dumping the T/T's, he said heat race for 5 or 6 rounds & crown the winners NATIONAL CHAMPION & be done with it. He went on to say unless you are actively involved with IMPBA you don't have a clue what US-1 means (a title he has held many times). But you go to a record trials & set a world record, everyone knows what WORLD RECORD HOLDER means. Just like anyone would know what NATIONAL CHAMPION means, boater or not. John's been racing for many years & probably has forgotten more than most of us know. He says it's time for BIG changes in the IMPBA & this should be one of them. Who can go out & burn 10 days off to even go to the Internats anymore, let alone run the event?"

This is something that I think maybe the IMPBA should look into. We already place the primary emphasis on heat racing when we double the points & anyone who has attended the Internats knows that if you finish first in heat racing all you basically need is two mediocre 3rd places in oval & SAW TT's & you're US-1. Perhaps a format like I think Joe Knesek suggested with like 4 rounds & top 6 go to a 3 round shootout. Let everyone go and race their butts off & be done with it. No wasted time with setting up for timed runs & things keep moving as we need to find a way to shorten the event, not make it longer. I personally feel the dwindling attendances at the Internats can be partially blamed on the fact it gets more difficult for people to use 10 to 12 days off straight anymore. Just look at the Gas Nats attendance & boat count for a 4 day event. NOT trying to start a big debate here, just my two cents............. B)

I personally agree with John and Don. Even though I have not attended a 'nats, the amount of time off from work required is more that I have been willing to give. And the extreme time commitment from the host club makes many shy away from becoming a host. The Charleston club strongly considered hosting a 'nats several years ago but did not have enough members to coordinate all of the required days. It made no difference if IMPBA brought an army in to help we still need local members to coordinate. No bid went in. I know of several lake sites that would be good facilities but are not large enough to hold time trials. That drops even more out. Concentrate on the heat racing aspect and half of the time needed would be eliminated.

John

Hey Guys,

I've never raced at an IMPBA Nats event but you guys run ovals, straight line AND timed ovals at one event?

Paul.

My own idea for US1 would be as follows: Run heat racing at the Nats, but allow a variety of formats. To move on to be US1,you would go to a record trial and record a set of passes in SAW and Oval. The guy that has the best finnish in heat racing and the best SAW and Oval times, combined in some kind of a point system, would be US1. That way,US1 would be announced at the end of the year, making it more of an honor to win. The boat raced at the Nats WOULD NOT have to be the boat that you run at the record trials. This would make the US1 winner the best all-around boater, not just the luckiest. It would also mean that anyone could win,not just the "mathmatical few" like the current system allows.

Bob,

I think that it is a fabulous idea. It also opens the potential to be the US-1 champion to more people. Many stay for the heat racing and then have to leave before the time trial portions begin. They then can qualify at a time trial for the award. It would mean more work for someone to coordinate the awards but is definitely more fair.

John

Well, having attend the Nats this year. The junp in placement after the heat racing was finish was not much buy anyone. I think only one person gain a US-1 threw the jump after heats were finished.

In APBA, full size Offhore US-1 is earn over a period of races. National Championships are earned at one race. This I am sure of.

The Gas Nats have completely done away with the SAW and oval trials. But, this year added the shootouts or trophy races.

We all spend{ majority of us } all year heat raceing. At this years Nats ,again I think only one person made the type of ajustments for their boat to run SAW and Ovals the way we know you should. They are heat racing boats.

There are 6-8 events for Saw and oval throughout the race calander.

Let heat racing determain heat racing CHAMPIONS. If you want a WORLD RECORD

there are events JUST for that.

Also, The time required by the host club is cut greatly. Time needed off from work to do the race is cut greatly. Expenses to US is cut as well. FACTS.

Now, at this point,{and do make it a pissing match} you can have ALL IMPBA classes raced at one time. ONE BIG EVENT, ONE BIG PRESENTIATION and all go home after.

And to answer the question by Piston 1. There are host clubs interested!!!BUT THEY

DO NOT WANT SAW AND OVALS!!! reason. TIME. And NONE OF US ARE GETTING ANY YOUNGER.

Don, and others. I an going there on the boat count and the Gas / nitro thing. On the District level { and everyone can voice how it is in there area} I would say that must races do not make it if there is not both fuels of classes. Some may have enough to make it on nitro only and on gas only. But at that point we have the same " I don,t like gas" or " I don't like nitro". Well, the last time I looked

" were there are two there is a race." even if it is snails.

Gas nats had 255 boats,Internats had 470. Namba Nats had 480 combined.

IN ONE PLACE AT ONE TIME FOR NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS 725 PLUS boats!!

Talk about make a statement.

Start on Wednesday finish on Saturday with your run off Trophy races.

Look at the numbers IMPBA IS EQUAL to WHO???

This started as a thread about the next president and what WOULD or COULD change for the better. The organization and the hobby or sport needs to move forward. It has to move forward. The total numbers make you more attractive

as a group to a host club when they have to talk to city offical.. If they see $$

in the numbers people coming to there area of commerce.

And on the gas rules thing that is floating around. The proposed changes make the gas boats so close to nitro that I will be looking to run my F-mono in XLS 27mono

And I for one WILL. You all know the saying" be careful of what you ask for." B) B)
