JUST BEGUN?????

This has been a problem now for over a year. Until the government gets some kind of enforceable laws on the books, it's only going to get worse. This is really too bad when you consider that some R/C pilots have been flying planes and helicopters for decades and now they may have restrictions thrown at them they don't deserve. I'm just a bit curious how this is all going to play out since I'm ordering a Kadet MkII tomorrow and knowing how the feds are going to deal with this issue may turn the plane into a shelf queen before it's even completed

Just saw an online ad for a control system today. Draw a line on the map on your laptop, download it to the quadcopter, goes where you drew the line. Program, push a button, walk away, scary scary shxt. We have had about half a dozen GROWN men come into the lhs I work at & purchase high dollar quads for hunting. Both for scouting & wanting to herd deer to them! Wonder how many will get shot down......

The incident in Seattle, crashing into the ferris wheel, was completely avoidable. If some of these people would actually look at the correct maps, they would know when they are in a 'no fly zone', which the area around the Space Needle, the Waterfront Park, any where along the Seattle waterfront in that area are clearly designated 'no fly zones'. Some guy posted a video on Facebook a few weeks ago going over the waterfront by the Golden Gate Bridge, and was promptly called out for flying in a 'no fly zone'. His response was classic; "I don't care, they have to catch me first". No common sense anymore.......

I went out and found the quad that crashed into the wheel at Best Buy. It's not a cheap toy at well over $600. The way I see it, the owner has a choice:

1) Go get his quad from the police and pay a fine for being stupid

2) Write off his expensive toy, buy another one and eat the cost of the first, basically paying a fine anyway

Either way, it's going to cost him some serious green since he obviously doesn't know or is unwilling to follow the laws

I think he's saying he found the same model for sale at Worst Buy, not that he found the actual one that hit the wheel.

You are correct, Jim. I got the make and model from the video shot by KOMO TV and googled the quad. There are four versions and all with cameras(the one shown on the vid had a camera) are in excess of $600, the top of the line version being in excess of $1500

Just wait until some ***** wanabe terrorist straps a bomb on one and sends it into a crowded stadium where a lot of people are trampled to death trying to get out or even after Obuma himself.

We will be lucky if we have any RC toys avaliable after that....

Charles

With the autonomous capabilities of quads, I'm quite surprised (amazed actually) that that hasn't happened yet Charles.

In Palm Beach County they are putting restrictions on drones where they can fly and other things there still working on the law its a start
