Twin K90.

I wouldn't like to run more than 25% oil as this is what I ran last time the K90 engine blew. You shouldn't need to run that much oil, 25% is over the top.

Please guys, can we stop this already? :-

Ian.
I'm with Ian on this. I deleted my post as I made it in haste. Maybe I wasn't the only one ???

Theres other forums out there for arguments.

This thread de-railed and is no longer what intlwaters.com is about at all and I'm sure Tom M. would agree. ( I wouldn't be surprised if it dissappears completely)

Tim.

P.S. Lets keep the threads informative so we can all benefit.

Oh yeah,

Forgot to say good luck to Mike B with his business venture and look forward to seeing the website.

Thankyou Tim

Wow , people do love their engines, I have only one thing to add. The more different makes of engines us boaters have available to us the better it is. The better the quality, the value, the latest most powerful designs. Competition between manufacturers is always good for the consumer!

Wow! You really know how to put the lights out on an exciting arguement. Glad you can't send files with punches!

I run my K-90 with 18% Klotz and 5% castor. I run the PI$$ out of it all the time, and I have a piston sleeve that looks like new after 15 gallons or so. Hmmmmmm! Somebody's doing something wrong, or I'm accidentally doing something right.

Hammer

Ed, mount the Rossi 90 wristpin and just run with the top cooling on the engine and the problem solved 8).

Oh, are you running with the std head??

I run 20% castor with no problems almost ;D.

Anders

Twin K90 / Anders. I've run 18%, then 20%, then 22% and in desperation 25% Caster/Klotz blend and still K90 problems. Also tried top cooling only and a mod head button and still the same, Bang !!!.

4 P/S, 2 Wrist Pins and 2 Rods later I gave up and I'm not the only one that's had these problems !!!. Too expensive on parts and too unreliable. > :(

I'm getting more power and RPM out of my CMB .90 engines and very reliable with no failures. ;D

ED

You have broken 2 rods?? where were the rods breaking?? or were they breaking cause the wrist pin problems??

Not having a dig just trying to find info,

i did hear of some problems with the early early motors, we have been running them in James Kings twin for about 4 years and never broken any parts, nipped 1 liner even ran with the standard needle rollers for 2 years before we changed them,

i pulled down one of my motors last night to get the o ring sizes for Hammer and they are still perfect inside, no wear marks, no stress marks,

I too like to run something other than the norm, that's why I have a K-45 in my 'burst and the Rossi Niagara in my Speedmaster 21. Is anyone else on here running a K-45? I need a good pipe length for it. It's now at 10-1/2" with an Irwin quiet pipe. Good prop?

Ron, that pipe length seems a little long, from exprience with the K90 they love short pipes, i would try a 450/3 and a 452/3 they are pretty good 45 mono props

Hey just run what you want.... dont compare wins to the success of the engines... I can claim an A90 won the AMPBA nats 2 years ago but that was basically and idling race (Magilla remembers that one...)... he who had the least problems won. And as Ian said, a broken shaft cost me higher than 3rd in X mono NAMBA 2001 NATS with an A90 Seaducer..

BUT remember when a MOKI won X hydro???? Does that mean they are just as good???? One thinks not

I have run CMB for years and had a lot of success... had Picco.. Have MACs (21 and 67) and import A engines now into Australia. I also appreciate the K engines are a serious contender as well. Its just nice to have a choice 8)

Hey Magilla, maybe we need to do a deal for a twin and see what a pair of A,s will do?

EMS Racing... We dont make mistakes, we perfect them!

Sounds cool!

I had the same idea after seeing Ian's Hummer and the prop's it would swing.

Tim.

Hey Tim,

You are going to build a twin too? Oh well, another couple of twins for me to try to beat with my poor little single.... :p

Start saving $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$! 8)

Ian.

Not yet Ian!

Still got some work to do on my current race boats before I even consider building another one (although X Mono is looking tempting right now ;) )

Tim

Tim,

X mono is the ultimate mono class! Ultimate fun and ultimate carnage! Step up to the big time! Bring it on! ;D

I know a bloke who supplies hulls, you might know him too.... ;)

Ian.

he he he!

We used to call X mono "crash and burn class".

Try and guess which motor I'd use 8)

The "Wild Bunch!" ;D

I think they should bring back that 'Last man standing' all in X mono race at the nats. Maybe there should be a trophy for it as well!

Hmm, I think it's the motor you called "the ultimate mono motor" ;D

Ian.

Hmmmm X mono....

all I ned is to find the setup on my Seaducer I had at Adelaide that time... :)

I got buckets of fuel on board for a ten lapper!!!!

Bring it on!!!!
