I'd highly reccommend the OS21XM outboard. For a stock motor, they go hard with the right prop. They also have the best leg and propshaft in the business - period. The only internal mod needed is to remove a head shim. The problem you might have with the CMB powerhead on a K&B 3.5 leg is the K&B propshaft assembly just can't handle it for very long. They wear out really fast. Flex cables can be an issue too. Fortunately Kris Flynn makes some fantastic replacement cables and is a local for you.

There are loads of good hulls to choose from. What I's say to you is decide whether you want to go with a tuned pipe arrangement or stick with a stock type motor like the OS. Some hulls are great with one type and not so great with the other. Don't be put off by "stock" - the OS motor is capable of going very well. Very reliable and consistent too.

In wood - the VillainS1 or Aquacraft VS1 works really well with Stock OS or K&B power. In glass there is a fair amount of choice - the Lynx, Vision, HTB290, Sniper/cobra, Aquacraft TS2 or TS3 (when it becomes available) would all be suitable choices. If you have to go with a piped engine and want to go fast - figure on one of the glass hulls mentioned.

I've run most of them and reckon you can't go wrong with a VS1 and OS. They come with linkages / fuel tank etc. too and aren't a tight fit like some of the other hulls radio boxes. Not the fastest, but fast enough to beat some expensive set-ups, and very reliable. You could start off by putting your K&B on the VS1, then switching to the OS once the old motor dies. That should help with the initial outlay too.

wow now thats alot of options tim haha. nowing me i like to go fast i had a ported os outboard before when i raced about 4yrs ago with a salisbury pipe and that thing hammerd so i want to sort of do the same if you know what i mean.

i actualy had my eye on the aquacraft ts3 and i think i might wait on that to come out or like arron told me the lynx. i wouldnt mind seeing if i could do some work on the k&B like a rebuild, pipe and some porting if possible.

iv pretty much got my mind set on the OS as iv had one before like i said very fast and gave me no hassels for the year or so that i raced it, now its just pretty much finding a hull to put her on and get out there and try take yous all on hahaha wich i highly doubt i just want to have some fun and try be competetive at the same time.

il get to kris about the flex shafts. thanks justin

How to mod an OS.

Undo 6 head screws and remove head.

Take out brass shim and re-assemble head.

Undo prop nut and remove prop.

Fit Ozspec prepped ABC40x53 /2 and put the prop nut back on. B) B)

Then it's ready for running in. Take your time - they have a nickel sleeve.

Anyone need something from Tower? I need to make a small order, so if you need some things, bring it on!

Tim, I will get you a new rod, pin and clips?

Also, need to order something from Otto, anyone need some prop shaft assemblies? His 7.5 ones look sweet!!

Cheers

Kris

Kris

I need a K&B prop shaft.

Stripped the square drive out of the end of mine. Not bad since its 7 years old.

Also need to get some prop shafts from you.

2 for electric - square one end

and 2 for the nitro setups.

Lauchlan turned one on thursday also. Been busy since i got back from Bris. Will call next week some time. Say hi to Louise for me also.

Both are great to deal with.

im sure i have a k&b 3.5 piston and sleave at home.

you can have it for $30 in october when i'm home. for fun at the moment. through in some 50% nitro and run it till she blows i think you will be supprised how long it will take. i did the same with a 3.5 and it took 3 trips to the lake the thing was screaming. i just keept on runing it leaner and leaner. it diddent go till i put on a smaller prop. when i got it back on the shore there was oil coming from the water outlet and the only part that broken was the conrod haha never had so much fun since i was droping nuts down the carb of a lawn mower in high school. i have a friend who is very combedertive and insists on running a loose k&b. not sure on the OS but if your into the rice burners go for it.
