3. The Sport outboard tunnel class shall not lock down the engine or use any

auxiliary steering system.

Can somebody explain this to a Tunnel Idiot please? I don't get it.

Scott, they do this on outboard hydros sometimes. You can cut the skeg off of the lower unit, and lock the outboard in the straight position so it doesnt turn. Then you would put a hydro/mono style rudder system next to the engine and steer that way. This is not legal.

Make sense?

~James

James,
I've been told my SS is not "legal".. Reason given is the muffler adaptor has the hole in it along with the muffler being the SX version. "this is not how it came from K&B".. Well, it is a replacement muffler from K&B after losing one of the outer exhaust. Besides changing the muffler, it's stock. Figure this should still pass the go/no go plugs. Any thoughts? This could have been from jealousy since I was kick'n butt at the time! This is the motor that ran in the 07 race.

OBN.. K+B did sell them that way.. it is good to go

Mike
I would agree with James & Mike's comments.

John Knight has informed me that several of you have asked him why I am not attending the races as the National Outboard Director. I wish I could attend the race but like many of you I only have a limited amount vacation time available. I am dedicating the bulk of it to build a home for a homeless family in the Cleveland area. This leaves me with just enough time to attend the Internats but any other racing I do next season will be weekend only races.

I hope you understand but please feel free to contact me if you care to discuss this matter further.

joe, you are doing something FAR more noble than racing boats, by helping out with that house. i applaud you for it. will miss getting to meet you in s.c., but understand your priorities.

Hi Joe Thumbs Up If there is anybody that has a problem with you not being there so that you can donate your time to lend a helping hand for something as noble as helping build a home for a homles family IMO is a person that i feel that i would not like to race with!! Hey John I was wanting to know how early in the week can people start arriving. A few of us was thinking about getting there on wed or thursday will that be ok See ya Jimmy

Jimmy et al,

We have some limited uncontrolled open water on Thursday after 11 am. Nothing sooner as the club has set up duties to complete for the race. If you come in earlier, take the time to sightsee the Charleston area, one of the highest tourist destinations in the country.

John

Guys,

We are now at 241 entries for the race. There is precious little time or room remaining before we get to the 250 cutoff mark. I expect that we will be more than that when we get through as there will be some heats that will not be full with 8 boats in it. Any entries received after we hit the 250 mark will only be used to fill out the less than complete heats. Absolutely no additional boats will be added that will increase the number of heats to be run as it will lengthen the race. Once the final filling out is completed, the race will be locked down for good. Entries will be returned if they arrive late or do not qualify for the above.

Count on every heat having 8 boats running.

John

I 'm gonna beat that ALL 8 boats won't be running . There will be 8 but not all running trust me :D :D

Hell I had a hard to getting the retrieve boat to run .

To the tune of Jingle Bells to be sung before racing begins each day.

"Eight boat heats, eight boat heats, eight boats all the way, oh what fun to race and crash in an eight boat heat today. Blasting through turn one, eight boats side-by-side, it might best be called model tunnel suicide."

Feel free to create additonal verses.

Happy Holidays,

JD
