Sorry Hammer, been out of the loop for a couple of days......

How's this?

That's trick! Hey guys! You make the vote. Which do you think will work the best. Wade's or Erin's

I'm okay with either one.

hammer.... i did not have goot luck with my 1440..... others to try are 2137/3, 1938.

Honestly I have not tried it yet.... but ive got it ready to go and id really like to try it ;D

oh yea..... I think octura has the new v940 or v942 out now..... it was made for the electric guys looking for 100

Hammer,

Did the Prather 215 prop make the rear of the boat

hop like in the video? You may have to level the strut

with some of the different prop combinations.I think

the three bladed props are a bit much for a .12 motor.

I would play with the Prather props if they are not

hopping.Also try Octura 1435,X-440,X-640,and 1640.

These props should get you in the ballpark. Some will

need to be reduced in diameter or pitched up to help

the boat hook up with the water. Good Luck and keep

us posted.

Thanks,

Mark :)

hammer,

for some reason my computer stubbornly refuses to let me download your vid of the rigger... :'( :'(

oh well. wow, you're really into getting the right prop, all i've got is a P250 done by Tunnelbill...let us know whatcha think of some of the aforementioned Octura's when you get a chance to try 'em out.....i have a feeling that what'll work for me will be close to the same as what works for you, the K&B .18 will probably be about as powerfull as your .12, though probably leaning more towards power than rpms.

PJ, i like the design!!!

howdya do it?

I have a chopped X440/2 and a X438/3. I think I will give those a try, too.

I really liked the S215 though. I think if I pitched it up, it would really haul butt. As far as the V937, It turned really easy. It didn't load up the engine at all. I know some guys over here that use them on bigger riggers, but they never race with them. They all have the same complaint. They say it hops to much. To tell you the truth, I didn't really notice the hopping so much until I saw the vid. I guess I was having too much fun ripping up the pond. The thing I didn't like about it was the cavitation when you launched or when I slowed way down and floored it again. The S215 didn't do that at all. I don't want to spend more money on props than I did on my rigger. I will try a few, and live with what I got.

Hey Wade! Almost finished. Still haven't started on the directions though. When I build, they are in my head. Most of my drawings were chicken scratch, too. I will will have them done tonight or tomorrow. They will be in mm, so for things like the tub width, you will have to figure out what thicknesses of wood to use for the tub walls, so the width of the inside of the hull will not change. Maybe 3/32. Would that be in the ballpark? I used 2mm for all the frame work. and 1mm for all the planking. The boom outer pipes are 6mm in diameter. Maybe 1/4 inch will work there. for the Carbon sheeting. If you decide to use 1/32 for the tub sheeting, the carbon sheeting will have to be 1/32, too. because of the lids for the RC box, and the tank room.

No Problem. I wouldn't worry about the directions until the plans are done & sent. That will give you a week to get them done.

1mm = .0394" will 1/32" be ok?

2mm = .0787" i think 3/32 will work.

6mm = .236" I think 1/4" will work.

I think those dimensions should work. could you make notes on the drawings as to which dimensions you want me to hold like

They will be in mm, so for things like the tub width, you will have to figure out what thickness of wood to use for the tub walls, so the width of the inside of the hull will not change.
This will really help me out in the translation of the drawings. Once I get started, I will email you if I run into any questions.

I can't wait to get started!

I've tried both a S215 and an S220 on a Traxxas .15 with a hydro and both worked well. I noticed the roostertail on the S215 was real small. My Hydro worked well with the bigger props but had problems at high speeds -Too much lift(caused by the hull -not the prop).

I tried the same prop on a Cat hull and it did not work at all. Too much prop for the engine...

The hydro had a shoe in the rear that would lift the rear of the boat, really unloaded the prop.

I modified the rear of this Rigger w/ shoes similar to what Hammer did. Mine are bigger -I'm not really that much worried about top speed. I want a boat that will launch every time.

I have a trinity xp12 with a mac header and pipe on there way, I should have them tomorrow. I wanted a pull start motor so that I do not have to go buy a starter and batteries, I'm a gas/electric guy. If I like it enough I may buy a better engine. This will be my first nitro boat in over 12 years.

I could just stick it in one of my electric riggers but I don't think the balsa would hold up well. :)

That Traxxas has a lot of pitch on the rear sponsons :eek: .

Looks like it has about 5 or 6 degrees. I'm running 2.4.

My boat has never had any problems launching it from day one.

It is just that the V937 cavitates for about the first 5 feet whether I set it in the water or throw it.

I hope you get interested in these little pocket rockets RunnerX!

They are more fun than this .90 freak ever imagined them to be.

Glad I did it ;D.

Wade! If this thing becomes a kit, I already have an order for 10.

No kidding! The shop that I made two of them for, after going to the pond and seeing with their own eyes, is begging me for more. They already sold the two I made. Let's rock n' roll. The longest peice will be 604mm long. That might be a little to long for Ron's sister. We might have to have Tom introduce us to his canadian friend.

Hammer

Hammer that's a pretty good gestimate -the rear shoes are 4 deg. The photo angle is almost perpendicular to the side. I secured the shoes with screws on the top- to make them easy to change out.

If the rigger works I'll probably make a new rear-shoe set that is 2.5deg like what you suggested.

Last time I ran the boat it did not launch very well. With no rear-shoes the rear never got out of the water. I think that the strut was too deep. I sure hope that it all comes together this Sunday : :)

10 kits!!!!!! That is really cool! :eek:

I will have to call Ron tonight. He told me his computer broke the other day, so he won't be able to check in unless he goes to the library. 604mm is just under the 24" limit His sister has. It just depends on how close to the edge of the wood her machine can cut. I will let you know what I find out.

Give me just a few more hours of time to finish them up! This means a few more hours when I'm not doing my regular job. Have to make them legible, you know.

They look really nice from what i can see in the picture. it should be really easy to make CAD drawings from them. it looks like you have done that kind of thing before.

I am looking up sources for the CF rod & plywood.
