HANDS DOWN OS AND VISION HARD TO BEAT COMBO BUT I AM PREJUIDCE MY BEST FRIEND BUILDS THE BOAT .FOR $250.00 YOU CAN OWN A BOAT THAT HAS WON AT ALL LEVELS AND ENG COMBOS !

Rany very true about if you going to finish first, first you must finish this is what my wife told me before she started racing i dont want to go fast like all of you i am going to finish my heats and yes she has and in second place high points first year racing

well randy your right . just because i sell a boat at a cheap price doesnt mean people will buy it or its worth a crap. but ive sold alot of boats around the world in my short time owning these molds and people

seem to be happy with the price and the quality and how they run.im just

trying let people know that if they want a new boat and there on a budget that they can get one for less than $200.00 and

they will still be competitive in the stock class. not everyone has $380.00 for one of your boats. or $250.00 for a vison . i know before i bought these molds that i struggled in the tunnel class to keep up with the fast guys running the best boats money can buy. . im just trying to offer a competitive boat for a good price that anyone can afford . and im sure that as time goes by and more of the boats that i build are raced that more people will do well and finish in the top 3

bill the boat (cobra tunnel) i build is hands down the cheapest new boat you can buy in the area . and if you want to run stock with a OS or K&B you should consider my boat for $185.00 shipped in any color i offer . and as far as competive they run with the best . its all about what pushes it and how you got it set up . look at mary helwig she is running a sniper / cobra with a stock OS and i think she got 1st place for the namba district 3 season with that boat .
i can tell you guys by far hands down the nicest finished boat i have ever seen come my way is the vision craft... i have 2 of them myself and they are nice.. i have never owned a lynx but i hear they are sweet too, but you cant beat the price of a vision they are 250.00 i think and they have won races ..some of the new boats on the market cant say thet and the finish leaves some to be desired.

tk
Buy a Lynx and then make a decision about the rest and not only the quality but the performance, thanks for your intrest. Ron

Dan,

I said to give yourself more credit than just throwing out price as your point-counterpoint.

I purchased a Lynx 5 years ago and paid $330. That boat was purchased in '04. I won a world championship in '09 with it, and the bottom is prefect, a couple of stress cracks in the deck, but that is mostly due to 60 mph blowovers and retrieve boat people who grab a boat in the middle of the deck to pick it up, not by the motor.

The bottom has never been sanded, just a tune up on the back edge once a year.It has raced every year, D3, D13 5 Tunnel Champs, SpringNats, NAMBA Nats, WCRA, testing.

$330 for 5 years good service, and it is still good for many more years. No warp. The proof that it has value is in how long it is still a competitive hull, without issue.

Guys, Merry Christmas to all.

Lets keep this civil as it has been so far. If anyone is interested in what the 'top' boat is that is available, feel free to check recent race results across the nation. You will see some that are consistently in the top, and a few racers that are consistently in the top. Use that information to make your decision. There is no boat out there that is better than any other boat hands down. It just doesn't work like that. If it did, we would only have ONE manufacturer of hulls. Let the results speak volumes.

First, THANK YOU for the FANTASTIC input to my question guys! I wish that we had as many choices to make with nitro engines as we do with tunnel hulls! Quite a variety!I have seen all of these boats run at one time or another at the races, and ive even pitted for a few...some thoughts...the Vision Craft is a very solid boat..i like solid boats...i LOVE wood boats, but cant say as ive seen a VS-1 really run with the other hulls...im aware that may not be the fault of the boat Grim, i just havent seen one run that great. As with so many of us, money is a concern, and i have 2 K&B 3.5ss OBs that i would prefer to wear out, as shelling out 300+ dollars for a new O.S. would be hard to do at the moment, even though i know they are great motors. Biggest concern i have at the moment is that i know several of you guys personally and hope you wont be POed at me if i dont pick your boat to run...a little bit to the point where im kinda havin second thoughts about even runnin the class...you are all very passionate about tunnel hull racing and highly competitive and i think thats great, but i value friendships...im one of those racers who is perfectly happy with doing well at a race every now and again...hangin out and havin fun with all you crazies is a way bigger deal to me than bein the MAN...always been that way about this hobby..if that makes me less than a "pure racer" thats okay by me!! Again, Many Thanks guys! :)

Bill,

Hate to see anyone not race who has your knowkedge and motors laying around. Your not going to hurt anyones feelngs. Get what YOU want and if you want a challenge try a Kneeler or a Mod V outboard.

Thanks Mic...Kneelers are just plain COOL!Liked the first one i ever saw.....thats my problem, so many boats, so little time (and money!) I promised my self i wouldnt take on any more builds till i finished what im workin on now, but i dont think puttin a tunnel together would take too long, since they are all built..i could have my Topspeed 2 in the water in 30 minutes, but compared to whats being run today, i think its seen better days! :)

Since the question was "what's a good hull?"....

Any of the tunnels currently built are "good". Light years better than the Midwest Klampon Kai's and the original Dumas square bow 20 tunnel. Someone said driver and set up is the key and that is the truth! Many of you are fairly new to this hobby. I can remember the days when there really was only one GOOD racing tunnel...a Lee Craft. (and that was the old style Lee) So, be glad there are so many to choose from and so many guys making them available.

And...reading between the lines here...it sounds like another one is coming. B)

Speaking of the kneelers, are there plans available? were do you get them, Or can a built hull be had?

Rick,

Jerry Dunlap developed a set of plans for the kneelers and a number of guys have built them. There was a thread on them previously. Maybe someone can find that thread and the post for the plans again. I recall they were easy and quick to build.

BTW, the World Tunnel Championships to be held in Charleston Apr 30 - 02 May will include a kneeler class with a 20 sport OB engine. 20 sport means no tuned pipe. We are hoping that this class will catch on her on the east coast and southeast. There has been a sponsor that has come forward for the race already and that is progress.

You can talk to Micheal Luszcz on here, his screenname is Spoonefcrx, he builds kneelers for other guys and does a fantastic job. Hopefully this kneeler class takes off and some of the manufactueres will start building them. I want to build one a put a mod on it! It would be so trick with a pipe sticking straight out the back...

HTB boats : www.htbboats.com

Lynx: Give Ron Drake a call or email

Vision: Give the Junkers a call or email

Sniper: Give Bill Britton a call or email

VS1: Tower Hobbies, a ton of other places, Mike Z. and Russ are both on here

Cobra: Give Dan a call or email.

HTV: not sure if Mic sells hulls at this point, but he is on here everyday.

Leecraft: http://www.pacinfo.com/~yayoe/ Lanza owns the hulls now, but his contact info is on there.

There ya go. Some of these folks, you actually have to pick up the phone and talk to them. This is a small side job for most, and websites may not be priority. Its expensive and time consuming to set-up and maintain a website. These arent full scale manufacturers except for the VS1.

It's very easy to get these boats, you just gotta ask.
