There is no way that is the same guy!!! LOL  too bad about the injury, it sounds like the band was on it's way. But, sometime in life bad thing alimentally turn out for the best. Your life would be totally different now if you hadn't got injured, & you probably wouldn't be involved with RC boats! :D

I'm Lohring Miller, 61 years old. I've been married twice, first for 23 years and now 17 years to my very understanding wife, Yayoe. I have 4 children, and 5 grandchildren. I'm now old enough to be a junior member of the FROG race team, along with guys like Jack Garcia, Hap, and Jerry Dunlap. (We're all over 60.)

I started with control line airplanes in the '50s, went to the AMA Nationals, built a racing 60 in high school machine shop, and flew RC planes until a friend gave me a partially finished boat. I've been President of Emerald RC boats for around 10 years. I've attended the NAMBA Nationals since 1998 when our club hosted the event, and I really got hooked on this crazy hobby. Along the way I acquired the rights to make the Leecraft tunnel hulls from Tommy Lee, see www.BandMLeecraft.com. I've also been involved with the effort (successfull) to be the first gasoline powered boat to hold an official straight line speed record over 100 mph. My driving skills are legendary, but I occasionally win a race.

In real life I'm a dentist. I sold my private practice after 25 years, retired for a few months, but now work as the Dental Director of Siskiyou Community Health Center.

PS You'll have to ask Jerry Dunlap, the team press officer, what FROG stands for.

Ok, I'm Chris Attebery. I'm a contract mask layout designer for the semiconductor industry. Everything I needed to know for my job I learned in kindergarden. :^) Basically, I draw squares and rectangles all day.

I've lived in California most of my life. Spent 4 years in Colorado in the Air Force. Started boating as a hobby there in 1990. Got out and moved to Sacramento. Started racing in 1994. I have won 2 district championships in 45 hydro. Met the girl of my dreams, Christine, at a boat race in 2000. Been married for 2.5 years and we have a awesome 8 month old son, Jacob.

I have raced 45 hydro for 10 solid years, raced x hydro for 7, sport 21 for 2. Presently building a Thomas 82U55 and SS45. I also do machining as a hobby. One of the traits that makes me good at my job is I'm a detail freak. Some of this spills over into my boats. I always look at peoples boats a think why the heck would you do that when it could be so much cleaner or simpler.

Chris

BTW, Lohring I would have never guessed that you were in your 60s! I guess boating tends to bring out the kid in all of us.

Of course I would have never thought that Jack Garcia was 77 either. How you doing Jack?

Like I say just a guess!

My name is Ron Byrd and I am a Life Safety Technician with 10 years in the field. Prior to that an Electrician for 15 years.

I am a past NHRA Pro Cycle Champion and while I am retired from drag racing I still love to hang out at the Gator Nationals every year. The smell, the sound and the raw HP of the Nitro Funnies and TF is fuel for my exsistence :) . I also have a close friend of the current Pro Cycle ranks that is just getting into RC Boat racing, who knows maybe we can get a few more of them into this great hobby.

I have been into some sort of RC Hobby for the last 25 years or so starting out just building and running them at the local lake to pass the time of day. I have ran 1/12, 1/10 and 1/8th cars both on and offroad. I have been racing Boats in IMPBA and NAMBA for close to 15 years now. My current classes are 20 Mono, 60 Mono, 90 Mono, Scale and Sport 40. I aslo just recently aquired a 90 Rigger that I have raced at two events so far. I started out in racing with a Prather 3.5 OB Lap Cat and the first year went to 5 events without ever finishing 1 heat but the next year things turned around for me. I have since won several District Championships in Sport 40, 20 Mono and once in 60 Hydro with an AC Nitro Cat also one time runner up in Scale missing the top by only a few points. I have served as District Secretary/Treasurer and I am currently Assistant Director in NAMBA District 3.

I own and operate a small Hobby business: Race Craft Bearings & Hobby which I started in 1999 by suppling only bearings (WIB brand) to my fellow racers. I have added other items along the way and have also developed two Boat Racing programs that are now on the market and gaining acceptance in the US and abroad.

Hope to get to meet some of you at the lake sometime this year or next!

Yours in Boating! Ron BYrd

I like your FROG. I think it makes us sound like we're actually good at racing.

Hello I'm Chris Thomas, 38, I've been watchin and addin to this board now for a few years. I really enjoy the topics. I've been married for about six years now and I think my wife, Angie, is just starting to understand this boating stuff. We have two girls, Savannah 3 and Emma 10 monthes. So I'm also hoping to have at least one "Pink" boat to Hammer you guys with....

I have been involved with R/Cs, on and off, since the early eighties. Ran down with the Wolverines on Belle Isle in Detroit. I think I was one of the first, to run an Aeromarine Cat against a bunch of fast riggers. Not really competitive at the time either. The fleet has expanded a few hulls over the years. When completed I should be able to run in every nitro class(lol). I have been a member and officer of the Ford Model Boat Club for several years too. I also enjoy the Unlimiteds and Limited class Hydroplanes. Have several friends who run both. So if it has water we could be there.

Bruce Hartmann (pa_28r_200) ; Tampa, Florida

I'm 37 years old, and single. Been dating a girl who's not insane for about a year and a half, so that may change soon. I work as a Systems Engineer for a medical technology company (www.iliant.com).

I'm a licensed pilot, working on my instrument and multiengine ratings. I also ride dirt bikes (2003 Honda CRF450R), scuba dive and enjoy fishing (21 foot Horizon Center Console), all pulled by a Ford F150.

I used to run boats in the mid 80's but our psuedo "club" lost the lake, so I moved into RC planes and Heli's and have pretty much had at least one of everything at one time since then. I have either been a club officer or on the board of directors of a club for about the last ten years (currently www.baycityflyers.com)

Recently, after moving into the burbs, I've discovered numerous places to run boats again, so I'm getting back into it and looking for folks to do it with (the LHS' are NO help at all !!)

I started back with a Dumas Lil Rascal (the kit was only 30 bucks !!..that's what a bottle of Capt'n Morgan costs !!!), then somebody convinced me to buy a 1:12 Bud Boat (What happens when you consume the Capt'n Morgan !!). I also picked up a Prather Lap Kit kit & Most recently a 7.5cc Rigger off RCU.

Oh well, I'll stop rambling now.......

Hi I'm Craig Knight,38, been married for 11 years, have 3 children Alysha 5, Lauren 3 and Rory 10 months. Went to Uni and became a Land Surveyor in Melbourne Australia for about 11 years then 6 years ago I chucked it in and my wife and I bought a farm in Jerilderie where I grew up. Some say it's not the end of the earth, but you can see it from here!! We grow wheat, rice and canola with the odd sheep or two.

Had CL planes as a kid then got hooked on boats about 9 years ago. Started with multi boats(good for improving driving skills) then progressed to 45 mono and latest project is a twin with MAC 84's.

Got a mate hooked on boats and started up a local club about 2 years ago. We share a lake with a waterski club who refer to us as the little boat people. We run the NSW Country Championships in Finley( A good way to get people to come and play boats with you.)

This is my first attempt at a post so I hope it works

Cheer Craig
