Even being an OB type guy, I've got one of those Wing Dings in my collection. Has a OPS 45 that I can't get to fire up for some reason. Always wanted to see that boat run...

Mark,

you know what just dawned on me why it won't start, there's probably a disk rotor in it. On the disk there's two slots for the crank pin close to one another, if you put the crank pin in the wrong slot it changes the timing and blocks full fuel from entering into the chamber.

"Maybe no boats with flex shafts, only solid drive shafts"

That would eliminate a lot of 80's boats Hughey, Mongoose, Coyoty.

Don T. ,

The Coyote's came stock with a Small straight fin. Only a few were modified in the 80's. In the Earily 90's everyone ran them with big fins making that a more modern set up. But if we want We can have Big modern fins on old boats.

We are making the rules here and now, so everyone through out your wish list.

Would Octura Wildcats be acceptable? Or are we just limiting this to hydros?

I agree with Andy about the flex shafts...that would eliminate many of the late 70's early 80's boats...good thought though Bob!!!

Yo Mikie Z,

Got a silly question :D Could a young dude drive in this class, Or are the drivers vintage too ?????

Sorry just a thought....... :p

hehehehehehehe

Rodney & Clay,

Figured that was the case, the rotor being in the wrong place.. Thanks for the info.. Might have to break that out once I get into my own place. Currently all the R/C items are packed and ready to go.

Man, just burned up a Toms Cat, could have tossed that in the vintage tunnel class. That's ok though, still have a Lil' Lightning in the pile... Might have to purchase the short skeg K&B off fleebay to run!!!!

Mark..

I had a Hughey .21 way back in 1979 and it was set up for flex cable drive so I don't see why not such a setup wouldn't be legal. I might have to get ahold of my ex-brother-in-law. He has a bunch of old boats stashed away in a barn.

I have Bill LeFeber's 60 Crapshooter from the 70's. I just need some time to get it restored and find an OOPS 60 to put in it.

78706[/snapback]

I have a 60 Crapshooter OPS in running order that I used to race against Bill LeFeber's!

Don;

Bring it!!! LOL I forgot you still had some old wood from the old Crapshooter days. Where can I find a 60 OOOOPS engine?

Limit the rules to vintage power and drivetrain. Turnfins are a grey area. Of course we can run modern electronics. What is the consensus on running modern power? We may run into a parts problem with some of the old disc engines. Of course finding parts could always be part of the game. Forget about running two Futaba S-7s on the rudder. Third channel mixture control would be neat.

Let's just leave it to the basic boat to keep things simple.

We could make rules till it's no longer fun!!!

I have a 1985 Mongoose 21.

Gave away my Marten Davis Crapshooters, Wing Ding, and Pinckert Gators.

Canards and Cats were winning a lot of Hydro races in the mid 80's.

I have a 3.5 Northwind mono if we want to do a Mono Class. Gary Pruesse Still runs his old monos.....some are 30 yrs. old.

This thread sounds great but I have nothing to compete with. Up here we call retired wooden boats and plaques, kindling. No kidding... There isn't a trophy in my house that has wood on it. Each winter I strip the plates and hardware and cut them up to start the fireplace. I may have one close to the drill press as a backing plate but eventually it will make it's way to the fire. Solid water sucks!

Lets see...

Boats legal if MGF before ?

Straight shaft drive

Any radio system

Motor must be form same era? Or not.. ?

turn fins not to exceed X percentage based on size of hull.

Are we close?

Also i would have to go with NO mixture adjustment..

Good idea. My only concern is powerplants. I could run my MAC 67 but would it be fair to the true vintage buffs?

We could make it very simple say that if it is 20 years old and uses the same equipment as when it was "Trick" then it runs. Run the race like the Indy Unlimited format. Simple but fun. Have a Traveling Trophy (like the Bridge Trophy)

Norm

Yea for me its got to be old.. im sure that if the orgnasions like SAM can pull it off so can we.

SAM

Must be a way..

Maybe we go back as far as teather? :D

Go for it. Basically if you start messing with what motor to use now all you have is the same problems guys in the stock B-OPC class have......basically limited to K&B's w/no parts if you catch my drift!
