You can't easily see how I cut it in a picture but what I did is cut it right above the bottom to keep the angled bottom in tact. I then cut a 1/2 inche section out of the middle and glued the bottom back on.

Use 1/2 masking tape to mark the box by wrapping the tape around the box. Then draw a line on the edge of each side of the tape. then cut the box in the middle of the tape. I used a belt sander and sanded the box to the marks.

Ok,

I will take a wack at it. It looks like about 1/2" would be about right. If I do a good job I will post some pics. If I screw it up look for a post "Molding a CF radio box"

This worked out ok for me, 1/2" tape around the bottom and draw cut lines.

Closed fit inside, I cut a little close to the bottom and got some gaps in the corners.

I think it is interesting that all the mono designs are going with two strakes now...my racing buddy just received the new style microburst that Dave Showers is producing...four strakes...and light years ahead of my microburst (Showers first generation with two strakes) in the corners.

Rick

I'll Echo what Ron Said:

Speedmaster is an excellent design....

You dont need tabs on it.......unless you want a cool-looking way to move your CG rearwards ;)

The new version needs one set of tabsWithout them, the boat is too loose when the water gets rough.
