Been out of boating for years. I would like info on shaft alignment in relationship to the centerline of the tub. In years past boaters offset the shaft 1/4 inch to the left. Question is, is the shaft angled or parellel to the tub centerline? Any help will be appreciated.

no one runs ofsett shafts any more. center of tub and parallel to sides.
Damn, my 60/80 Roadrunner has an offset shaft. Does that mean I need to dump it?
Chuck, is your shaft parallel with c/L or at an angle?
I just went out and checked. It''s parallel. The engine, stuffing tube, and strut are all shifted about 8mm right of center. I checked my 45 RR and found that's offset too. I guess that means both of them are obsolete! Does that give me an excuse to buy new boats? :D

yea then buy a new jaguar 3.....................................................i had to sorry .Bob
:D

Thanks for the info Chuck, it really does help. Keep the Roadruuner, I've seen one run.It was a single eng. boat running against a twin ,blew the twin out of the water. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

No fears, I'm not selling either of my RRs. In fact, I may buy a third. :)

Only the baby one, F was full. I guess I could have swapped out the 80 for a .67 and run it in E, but I've got enough other stuff going on right now.

years ago mfg's at least some used to offset the engine i beleive to help balance the boat for prop walk..

most if not all mfg now don't bother with it.. the road runners still might but i am not familer with them.

i know crapshooters run straight up and i beleive andy's boat are the same.

I look at it like this.. if it works, who cares. i had to make a mod to my crapshooter so it would track straight most say why and i say it works and it is FAST.

it's not how you get there but just get there.

So if the offset shafts are a huge issue, those old retired boats and such can be donated to my address, they will be gladly gently run in my pond, HEHEHEHE

I do.

To which side & why? Hope you'll reply Ron.... thanks in advance?
Depends on the design,CURRENT boats are either offset with the sponsons ,or offset with the driveline. The end result is the same, more aggressive and better balance in the turn. Take a look at a Sprint car(open wheel),or a midget all offset to the turn side. Just my opinion and what has worked for me.
