Well I just got back from the 3 hour trip to & from the welder now it's time to assemble tables. Here's the skinny-

1- The tables will run $125.00 plus actual shipping costs to each person

2- I will only be able to accept money orders, bank checks or personal checks.

3- The tables will ship within one week of receipt of $$. Personal checks will need to clear bank first.

I know earlier I said the tables would be like $125 but the cost of welding was more than double what I expected. I will honor the original quote to any I/W members but the next run of tables will be approx. $10-15 higher. I also upgraded the wood quality as well as all stainless hardware. There are only 10 available of the first 12. I'm keeping one for myself & I'm donating one to the Internats for a raffle prize.

Please e-mail me directly- [email protected] - if you want one of these kick-a$$ starting tables. Include you COMPLETE shipping address so I can figure your shipping costs.

When I bought the jigs & rights from Ron V. he said making them was a labor of love. Well after the hours of cutting & drilling aluminum, the search for a welder, the hours of this & that, I now know what he meant. One thing is for certain--- YOU WON'T GET RICH MAKIN' 'EM!! B)

BTW- for those who have seen the original tables that Ron built, I have incorporated some "upgrades"-

1- 3/4" (actually 23/32") premium Sandply tops (originals were 1/2" plywood)

2- all stainless hardware

3- 2 choices for height, easy to switch between

4- table tops are now thru bolted with countersunk stainless hardware (the original design with wood screws fatigued with time & use).

These tables are awesome! We are now down to 8 available, 4 are now spoken for. B)

Hi Don, these tables sound interesting. Can you post a photo of one?

Thanks, David

This is the original prototype I bought from Ron. 2 more are now spoken for so it's now 6 left. I will make another run as soon as these are sold but will cost a few bucks more......

Well in less than 12 hours over 1/2 are spoken for. Here's who's getting one so far...

Bob Heywood

Bob Morton

Rip Holdridge

Greg Martin

Kevin Sheren

Mark Sholund

Plus the one I'm keeping & the one that I'm donating to the IMPBA Internats raffle. Looks like I'll be ordering more aluminum rather soon. I'm going to look into ordering 500 feet this time (it takes 20 feet of aluminum to build one table) to try to get a price break & counter the increased welding costs. I'd like to try to keep the price where it is for everyone....... ;)

You can buy this same table at meard"s in Indy for around 40.00 dollars
No you can't. If you want to buy a table from there for $40 that's fine, you'll get a $40 table. I pay more than that ($2.37 a foot in bulk) for the raw 1/8" wall aluminum in each table. Then the stainless hardware, the premium grade sandply tops, the welding, the sealing of the tops, etc., etc., etc. I'm not in the LEAST bit worried about what cheaper alternatives are out there, I'll let the people who are buying my tables speak up as to how good they are when they get them. Don, the tables Dave is talking ablout are the very tables Ron used as a plan. They are the Ryobi table. I've seen Dave's and it's the same design.

You might want to look at the name as well. It apears it's been trademarked.

Joe, that's all fine and good but if they were as nice as these tables are then Ron wouldn't have sold all the ones he did. Same or similar design, sure I can believe that. Will you get as good as hand made? Doubt it. Hand picked top shelf quality wood (ever price a sheet of Sandply??) strong 1/8" wall aluminum, the best hardware, urethane sealed, you get the point. Kinda like comparing a K&B to a MAC........ :p

BTW- this wouldn't be the Ryobi table they no longer make would it? It's not on the current Ryobi website that's for sure.

Ron did tell me to pay attention to how he spelled Qwikstand........

If you can get it for $40 then go ahead. Sounds like a good deal.

Don's charging for his costs. He did people a favor if you get down to it. If somebody wants to pay this price, then that is their deal. Good or bad.

It's not Don's fault if there may be a exact copy for less.

Where was all this info when the subject first came up?

After Ron quit making the tables I asked if I could build two of them (for myself and racing partner) and Ron said that I could. I will promise you that Don is not even making it worth his time. The two I built were a little larger (24" x 40" tops) and the material cost was $125.00 not counting the west systems and incondentials that were setting on the shelf.

Sincerely,

Allen Waddle

Thanks Preston & Allen. The only reason I did this in the first place was because everyone was saying how they wished they could still get them. I sat here & added stuff up including things I didn't factor in the first time like what I paid Ron for the jigs, special aluminum cutting wheels for the radial saw, the numerous tanks of fuel driving to & from supply places, welding shops, etc & the bottom line is I got a table out of the deal, that was my profit. And if I would factor in a modest hourly rate for MY time spent just working on them then I lost money. You can't change what first class materials cost & I feel completely confident that all who get one of these will be getting a damn good table that will be around long after they quit playin' with toy boats. Dave's table was surely a Ryobi unless he took the time to have the ryobi logo made to make it look like it was.

Qwikstand is a trademarked name.

I'm sure your tables are real nice but that doesn't mean you have to bash Dave like he's buying a piece of crap. It's the table that everyone has been copying.
