Rick,

I believe you have to sign up thru the new Namba portal.

Hit the lets get started button, center of page.

Next click on application for SEI on right hand side of the screen.

Thanks for taking care of this before race weekend!

All Single Event Insurance forms and 2016 Namba memberships need to be done before race weekend Please!

Ron,

Namba wants the single event insurance done thru the Membership portal before the event. No more paper SEI forms.

That may be what they want but they do not have that provision on the site and even if they did I doubt very seriously that a non NAMBA member would go to the NAMBA site and join the portal. They need to make those forms available to the clubs.

Rick the host club will take care of that when you check in.
I like to have my paperwork filled out so I'm not holding up the check in process/line

I hate it when people sign up at the race,,,, waiting till the last minute to get there too...

One of those "little thangs" that P@#s me off
When you signed up on RCRacingEvents.com you elected the 1 day event signup and paid for it. I have applied for the 1 day insurance for everyone that chose that option when they signed up. You don't have to do anything, you are covered. It is NOT the friendliest system for the race organizer, but it is the way that NAMBA wanted it done now and in the future.

Those that elected that, and paid the $15, when they signed up and now have the 1 day insurance are"

On another note can the club get a extra table for Aron and I. Tom Foley has been helping use out with one and would be appreciated to have another. Thanks Charles

Are you talking about a 1 day membership in NAMBA or a regular membership in NAMBA? Did you forget to indicate that you needed the 1 day membership when you initially signed up for the race on RCRE?

The signup; for the 1 day membership in NAMBA is: http://member.namba.com/index.php?page=getstarted

Select the orange one on the right and complete that we get a list of the current members (either 1 day or full membership) that is up to date so either one is REQUIRED.

Hope this clears this up.

Wow Marty I was all over the NAMBA site trying to find that for Rick and it just wasnt there!

Hey Ron , Marty , I just got my NAMBA current and clicked the "Download membership cards " box and what I got was a zip file that I can't open to print them . Any help is appreciated .

Tom:

NAMBA will send me a current list of active and renewed members the day before the event. I will know everyone that has/hasn't signed up at checkin.

If someone forgets, etc to renew, they will have to get access to the internet and renew online using PayPal. NAMBA has made it really tough on the members that don't have PayPal to do business with them. It is a nitemare for the registrar of a race to add this to their list of things to do.

Everyone running open water and racing will have to have an active membership. This will be checked before open water. Suggest that those people getting to the pond on Wednesday get registered and ready to run open water. It iwll also save us some time.

Maybe it is time to look for alternatives.......

I am also interested in single event registration How to's.

Thanks,
OK, her you go with this.....

Go to http://namba.comand click on Membership Portal.

Once there create a new account.

Then choose Single Event Insurance.

Maybe you are an existing member. In that case choose NAMBA Membership on the left of that page.

Once you complete the process, you will be placed on the active list and also get a card in a few days.

You are then good to go.

REMEMBER that a new membership or renewal is required after January 1, 2016 so EVERYONE will have to either have a 1 event membership or a renewed membership.

Tom I encountered the same thing

Just waited till my card came in mail

See you in Brandon

Sorry Ron, you have it all wrong. If anyone has a question, it would be best to contact me as I handle membership processing.

I sent an e-mail out in early December to every Contest Director, Club Representative I located on NAMBA district web sites and NAMBA District Directors on how to handle verifying NAMBA membership and Single Event Insurance for their races. Boaters have a tendency of having their entries taken care of, their boats ready to go, trailers loaded, and hotel accommodations completed, but not their insurance. Waiting until race day to take care of insurance is a real inconvenience to those trying to put on an event. We are taking that out of the hands of clubs officials so that they can do their job which is put on the race.

I have been working with Marty helping out and he gets an updated list of those who are currently insured, full or SEI every day that I process a membership. He is getting another one this afternoon as some of you have processed memberships this morning. NAMBA wants boaters insured before an event. Not during or after we receive the applications and payment. Not this club, but other districts have mailed me SEI's in the past weeks after an event and that can't fly any more.

Marty could have notified all entrants about processing their SEI's themselves but he played nice guy and entered them himself. The entrants need to do their part and not leave it in the hands of those putting on races. Is this difficult for some going online and processing their membership? Sure it is. Because it is not normally what they are used to doing. Like anything else, do it once and it becomes habit. In any case, it is much easier going in to race day knowing that all entrants are insured rather than trying to deal with it on race day.

Go to the NAMBA web site and click on the Membership Portal. If you were not a member last year, Click on Create a New Account. Then process your Single Event Insurance or a Full Membership. If you are not a PayPal user, then send me a check for $50.00 full / $15.00 SEI and be sure it gets to me before race day.

If you were a member last year, you do not want to create an account. Tell the system you forgot your password because you don't know what it is yet. it will be e-mailed to you. If you forgot your e-mail address or changed it, e-mail me at [email protected] and I will set you up.

All of this information is also available under the Membership Portal icon called About the Portal.

As much as it may seem like a pain to some, it is the better way to go. I am here to help. If anyone has any questions or needs assistance, just contact me.

Thanks,

Al Waters

One other thing. Richard brought up a good point I forgot to cover. The idea of having members print their own membership card was a good idea that has not worked out well. While the programmers are working on that, I have mailed out and will be mailing out 2016 NAMBA membership cards to everyone.

Thanks, Al Waters
