I WOULD LIKE TO GET SOME OF THE TWINS GUYS OPINIONS OUT IN PUBLIC REGARDING REASONS A TWIN WILL NOT LAUNCH...NUB HAS A TWIN CMB 80 scratch built, HE IS REALLY HAVING TROUBLE GETTING THIS BOAT UP ON PLANE..THIS PAST WEEKEND WE TRIED TO ADJUST THE PIPE LENGTH AND PLAYED WITH PROPS BUT STILL WOULD GET UP AND GO

PROPS THAT WERE TESTED...

1)2 DIFFERENT SETS OF h48"S, FULL DIAMETER, ONE SET WAS STOCK AND THE OTHER NOT SURE OF COB

2)A SET OF FULL DIAMETER 1667"S WITH 6.0 COB

I HAD TOLD HIM TO CUT DOWN THE DIAMETER TO 63 TO 64MM, BUT I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR MORE OPTIONS..HES STUBBORN :p

LETS TRY AND HELP NUB HERE, HES AN AMAZING DRIVER AND A GOOD PERSON,

I have tried to help him and he does not want to hear anyone's input. I ran a 80 Twin extreme exactly what he has in the fall nats but I don't know anything my Twin 80 extreme ran extremely we'll and very fast and place 3rd in F Hydro. I can give you all the info you need to get that boat to launch an run in the 80's zone. I'm not going to put the info out in public because someone will have something different to say.

Call me and I'll give you all the info he needs to make that twin run like a bad out of hell.

Funny he had no problems on Friday in open water.

Come race day and well you know the story.

My book reads the same way. :(

Internally Broken shaft? A Bad engine? ( Brgs or Lost the Case seal) Or a Water Leak on the Cooling head???????? A twin will launch with 1 Engine running If the Other prop is removed....... If the Boat will not run when it hits the water Fuel Pressure Must be Considered, And a Water leak is something to consider....... P.S. NUBS BOAT IS NOT A ROADRUNNER XTREME ... It is a Scratch Built Tub with Roadrunner Sponsons..... This makes it a Scratch Built Boat??? OR a TOM ELKINS Built Twin?? My boat does Not become a Crapshooter just because i have a set of those sponsons on it........

joe not sure what the history is on the boat..dont know who built it..when the boat is thrown in it wont come up on plane..it runs around the lake at maybe 15 to 20mph..it will do this the entire race and he

will finish..but the boat become a serious target

I still think it has nothing to do with the boat if it is setup even remotely close . With the 80's in my boat (Roadrunner old school 80 extreme )i could launch it by myself standing up in a jon boat and just pitch it flat in the water like a log and it ripped up onto step and away . I still think it is a fuel / tank / something else problem .

What is the angle of attack on front and rear sponsons. The height of the boat off the water setting on the sponsons and is the boat level under the motors. Position of struts when on the table.

Sound like bad tanks can't see inside brass tube cracked line (pick up) hope find Good luck!

Well 1st of all it is..... Not Ralph`s Product!!....... And when someone else builds the tub many, many things can be wrong with it...... You said it would not launch? Now you say it mills but at Slow speed off step?? It is over propped or has a Engine Issue. Who is working on the engines? HAS the boat ever ran the way it is set up & Now Quit Getting Up????? Put a pair of H32`s on it And see if it will launch? They dont have to be perfectly the same to see if it will GO..... If so???? he may have a problem with 1 or both engines loosing there fit or case seal?? Does this boat have Water drain holes drilled thru the bottom of the tub? They need to be 3/8 in size. If the boat is filling up with water it adds a ton of weight, And will not let it Get up... CMB 80 turn great RPM But you must keep them in Good Shape. When they are hauling ars you are calling for 100% of the engine to perform. Especially when you have cupped H48s and H667s on the rear of the boat...... Nub seemed to be Happier When he Ran a Original Roadrunner Twin with VAC 91s the boat was less critical & won races.......p.s the History of the Boat is.... It is a Scratch built boat from the sticks he brought back from Hobart 2 years ago. IF it is a ROADRUNNER PRODUCT... He would be over at Ralphs House asking him?????? Check those water leaks and Water Drain Holes........ If I was there today... I would pull the water line off and see if it will make a lap at speed... B) B)

Scratch built boat from the sticks he brought back from Hobart.   Crying, ROFLMAO

Am I worng..............??? But didn't this same thing (no Launch) happen all weekend at Charleston last year...???

I also suggested the 64 MM props - 5.6 because thats what I ran with my 80s and it was launchable and ran 90 + . H - 667's ran good also . i tried 67 MM props once and it was a dog but got up on step .

Not sure what Nub is running now though .

I agree with joe w that's not a Ralph Almirola build Twin. Calling it a roadrunner is disrespect to Ralph Almirola and all the fellow racers that run the Roadrunner Twin Hydros. if nub needs help my advice would be to buy a Roadrunner Twin Tub not some Elkins Junk nock off. yeah i said it JUNK.. thats disrespectful and yes im offended because ralph works his butt off to build great quality boats. You want a roadrunner that runs good call Ralph almirola. when the boat runs fine he calls it a roadrunner when it runs like crap he bashes on it..

that's a Thomas Elkins Twin Hydro special piece of JUNK

i will have Nub jump in and clear things up for us..the bottom line is hes hooked on the twin nitro thing and hes a good pilot...we dont want to loose anyone who is willing to run this class..We want

to encourage good drivers to join us..Joe i really agree with the pair of H32"s just to see if it will come up...it will screem RPM"s but who cares..ill call him tomorrow
