Please post here if you know of someone running for IMPBA president...since we are having a write in campaign, we here in the midwest don't know if there are people from the south/west/ or east who are interested in the job.

I know of two from this area who are interested in being the next IMPBA president

Bill Zuber, current district 5 director

Brian Nelsen, current IMPBA VP and district 6 director

The time to vote is running out, and some have not received roostertails yet, but help spread the word who is 'running' so we all know who all the choices before making a decision...

Bill Zuber ran for national President 2 years ago. He nearly won and I am going to vote for him in a write in ballot. I know of several others that also are doing the same. I know he has the interest in the past.

I do not know Brian and wish I did. He may make an excellent President. No matter who gets it, they will have an uphill battle to get things back on track. But with some perseverence, he and we all will succeed in the end.

Would suggest that if both of them are interested, have them post a list of credits, background info and what they want to accomplish on this site. No time for the Roostertail whatever century it will be delivered. A more informed decision then can be made. Time is short!

78 views (as of right now) and nobody knows who else might be running...interesting...

Bill and Brian are both on this site...if they'd like to make comments here, I open the thread (since it's mine) to ANY candidates to make known their platform known...or to anyone else who may know of any others who might be interested...I am not endorsing anyone, I only want to help the 1000 odd people on this site to be more aware...

Thanks...

Guys: You had better hope your Roostertail shows up soon. It specifically says "No reproduced or productions of the ballot will be accepted". "The outgoing President will count all official votes, through this official Roostertail form ONLY!". "NO petition, call in, and or, web spawned ballots will be counted".

This is clearly written on the Ballot form and the front of the Roostertail. If you haven't got your Roostertail, you better make arrangements to get one soon. You only have till October 31st to have your official Ballot into Pat Kelly for counting.

Not being much into politics. Is this a nomination for a further vote or an actual vote for President? What happens if someone is voted and declines etc?

Pat Kelly said he would accept if he had a majority vote. He has done a good job so far in this thankless job lets give him one more term so we can continue to grow.

I can agree with this. Pat has done a good job. I especially like that he stood his ground on making the dB proposal have "teeth" when certain others wanted to water it down & basically make it a waste of effort.

PAT KELLY FOR WRITE IN PREZ! B)

no roostertail for me yet!

ok so i guess I can't vote...... how fair is that?

Vote for me for president! :D

just kidding

How about having these 2 or any other contenders meet in the chat room one night to help out those who are undecided? No mud slinging or any other BS, just a way to get to know the people who are interested in taking the job and what may be on their agenda if elected.

I did talk to Bill Zuber one night in a chat room about a few of the issues and voting between him and Pat was a tough decision for me.

Now here's a good idea........... B)

Wow what happened to my message???? Why would you even think of voting for Pat Kelly. He is the one who put us in this mess by withdrawing after the nomination period ended. My sight may not be as good as it should be but I can see no date that the ballot must be returned. What a mess!! Well I found the date on the front page. Ballots must be returned by Oct. 31, 2005.

I am voting for Zuber.

If I ever get my Roostertail to see that..............

I brought up the idea so let's see what the runners have to say about it. We'd have to keep it organized somehow and put a time limit on it so that they wouldn't have to be on here all night. A day and time would have to be agreed to and possibly a Moderator to keep things from getting out of hand.

Alternative; Start a thread to ask the candidates their views on IMPBA problem areas.

For instance, my gripes:

The slow delivery of the Roostertail. This has been a problem for a loooooooong time.

A way to get new rules enacted faster.

Clearer rules, no gray areas.

Although I'm no longer in the sport, I'm with you on this one Rip. When I was president of the Jackson Tn. R/C Model Boaters I sent Pat e-mail 4 times on 4 matters with out any reply. Sent in my CD test and never heard from that either. Some pres he made when he wouldn't even get back to the presidents of the clubs. I know Bill Zuber, and I think he would be great for the job. I know his heart and thoughts are with this sport. ;)

I an going to paraphrase for a movie. " We have serious problems that are only going to be solved be serious people. " And I for one are not intersted in people that only pay LIP SERVICE to it. The BUCK ALWAYS stops at the top. But the "BULLSHIT role down hill." This organization is in DESPEATE NEED of someone that is going to TAKE A STAND. We are in the NOISE ISSUE because of DICK JONES PERIOD. We have a rule that NOT ONE SINGLE MEMBER CAST A BALLOT FOR. AND IT IS TEARING THIS ORGANIZATON APART. FACT!

I only know Bill ZUBER, I only knew Zuber the last time. Pat kelly was at the NATS this year and if he was not called to make a presentation I would STILL NOT know who he is. We can all sit here and type in a lot of ideas and things but if none of us are going to do any more than that, than we get what we allowed to happen. The change has to start at the club level. For all of the noise issue, look at all the District Director issue that are going are around. More races cancelled this year than ever. I can only assume that Brain Nelson can a good President. But did he decide this last week? I have no roostertail, but is there a candidaste message in there. Was he at the Nats. There were two. Both far enogh apart that travel arangments could have been made. Zuber may not be out right campaining. But he went to all the major evens and made sure that the buzz was that he was runnig for the job.

People, if IMPBA is a business is is RIPE for a CORPORATE TAKE OVER. I will be like may others. "Gone with the wind" if that happens. Can some of the District and clubs survive on their own? Lets hope we never find out. Either of the WHO EVER GETS the majority write has EVEREST to climb.

Let me start by saying that yes I was at the international regatta this year, had a great time and the club did an awesome job. I decided to run for the office of president a few weeks after the international regatta.

I have been racing model boats since 1986 with a one-year break in 1992. I have been a district director for district 6 for three years and have served as vice president for the last year. I can tell you this; if you e-mail or call me I will answer you. I have helped many club officers across the country get problems fixed. I take this very seriously and will work to solve some of the persistent problems we seem to have.

I will gladly answer any question anyone has, either by post, private mail or even by phone. Which ever is most appropriate for the question being asked. I look forward to your questions and hopefully your support in this election.

Thank you

Brian Nelsen

I dont get my rostetails so I cant vote nore can I keep my rule book updated so next year I will join NAMBA and cross over if I go to a IMPBA race.

I spent a week next to Brian Nelson at this years Internats in Jackson, TN I will say he is a very sincere individual and is very concerned about the IMPBA. I think he will do an excellent job as President.

He decided to run for President. He was not talked into running for President. That tells me he wants the job and actually cares about the IMPBA.

Brian has my vote for President of the IMPBA!

Looks like we have very good folks to chose from.

I also have good things to say about Brian Nelson.. I have had the chance to race with him on many occasions and he was a member of our Villain S1 building party in 2003. Polite, easy to talk to and does what he says he is going to..

One note about Brians background.. if he can teach a bunch of snot nose kids how to think, and use million dollar equipment ,then he can likely hold IMPBA together as well.. heck same thing...right...hehehe

Just so you all know where I am coming from I will give you a little history:

I have lived in Florida for all of my RC Boating years which goes back to 1990. Therefore I was and still am a member of the IMPBA and I can tell you that IMPBA was it for me for a long time as when I got into it we had some good people running things. Although there were some small problems it was ran pretty well.

Somewhere about 1999 or so things started to sour, this was just after the best secretary we ever had retired (Priscilla Tyndall). I must say I was very active in District 3 and had to deal with the secretaries all the time and Priscilla was the very best at it and that is very inmportanat to the organization. Anyway the down turn began thereafter, but we did make a positive move back in the right direction when the late Tom Grannis became the president which as we all know if he was still alive to day I firmly believe the IMPBA would be better than ever and I know the 2001 Internats in Florida would have been much better, I apoligize to all those who wasted there time coming to that debacle as I am to this day very embarrased by the way it was ran. But as it were we lost a great President way to soon and things started to progress backwards again and to this day the IMPBA is still in shambbles. Well as you know Florida eventually went to NAMBA for several different reasons, yeah I know most of you think you know exactly why but your mostly wrong and only we floridians really know those answers. I will say that NAMBA is far from perfect as well so at some point you just have to race boats and forget who is sponsoring you "JUST HAVE FUN"

I am not going to say the IMPBA's problem are because of Pat Kelly because it started before he became the president. I will say that for the IMPBA to get back on the right track it will take a good man such as either Brian or Bill, I have met them both and they are both sincere to the hobby but it will also take a very good Secretary to keep the office interaction working propery! SIDE NOTE: The general membership should always go to their District Director to take care of something with the Secretay and not bombard the office on an individual basis. Hopefully your problem will get solved by the DD and Secretary but if not then at least you tried it the right way first and now its time for you to conatct the VP or the President.

In general I would suggest voting in a new President. I know either Bill or Brian will make a good President but as I stated they will need to find a great secretary to go along with them and then get with each DD with a protocol on how to get things done to assure things return to running properly. Oh and dont forget you gotta get the newsletter out to the members so they can vote!

Well, I am sure a change is needed. I have worked with this current adminastration as long as I care to. A change is badly needed and If I ever get a roostertail, (Which I dont personally think will happen). I will gladly vote to make this change. I still have new people without their cards. I have not seen a roostertail shipped to me in two years. When getting ready for our race this year I repeatedly tried to get a sanction certificate. This was not sent to me and had we not been racing at the same government park for years. I am not sure we would have got to race. This park requires me to produce that certificate every year. I dont feel I have to pay to put up with this kind of performance, and I dont feel that my fellow boaters should either. If there is anything I can do to help make this change happen. Please let me know. Ken
