Thanks To Don Ferrette for taking on the Hydro Tech position. This job has been vacant for awhile. Thanks again Don for stepping up for this important position.

Who will be a part of this committee?? I will interrested to be part of this committee.

Is the legality of a hydro hull in any class or in specific class?

Thanks!

You have to be kidding me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A Hydro Tech??? Do you remember how many years it took us to get Canards accepted as Sport Hydros?? Now we are going to have a special Guru to say these four pieces of wood do not conform to the regulations we have established because it is different than the rest?? How does that expand the creation curve???? Don I have flexibility is one of your best virtues?

Later!!

Pat

The IMPBA has had a technical committee for many years. Whether it be for a mono, hydro, engine or many other things as far as stuff fitting the rules. This is nothing new.

Ron Zaker was the Hydro Tech Director for several years & done a Great Job... Don will do the Same.......

I have been mono Director for over twenty five years and can tell you this position is nothing new. We only get involved with the technical aspects of boat design to inforce the rules which are already in place. The rules are voted in by the membership.

The Hydro tech is an important position.

For all of the different hydro classes that have hull specific rules there must be someone in place to support the function of those rules.

Don will do a great job in that position.

I was the Hyrdo tech in the late 80's. Before that time, the IMPBA had a list of different hydro hulls (3 point hydro, Tunnel Cat, Canard, ect.) but there was no definitions for each of the Hulls listed. The IMPBA President at the time, Doug McNeely, expressed his concern about a lack of definitions for each of the hull types listed. I researched and wrote that original list of definitions that had been absent from the rule book for the previous 40 years.

Back in the late 60's when we first printed the IMPBA rule book, John Bridge and I stood face to face in his basement and argued this. I can't believe it's still going on. I wanted to just define the mone/runabout and anything else was a hydro!!!!!! Wow little did I know that there would be so may different developments in hull design!!!!! Now lets deal with what's in front of us, you can't get rid of the past and if you ignore future you have your head in the sand!!!! I don't think IMPBA is about that so lets just look at what is in front of us and deal with the best possible solution to make model boating a better place to play. I'm sure Don will give it his best and he will involve as many of our member as possible with his solutions as possible in the future!!!

Thanks, John
