Are the arrows hollow?

Houston, Marty and Wade, we may have a problem! I was just over at the Rum Runner Racing web site and found out that there already is a HammerHead electric boat. Looks like we may have to change the name or we might get our tails sued!

I checked it out! I saw it, but I cant find anything that show it as a production model. I have been calling my riggers Hammerhead for more than 10 years. Can Harris say that? I have proof, too. I Have photos of my early riggers with the dates on them some of them go back 8 years. Don't have any pics of my Hammerheads before that, though. There is also an article in the October '96 issue of RC engineering magazine about the Hammerhead that I won the eastern japan titles with. The title is Hammerhead. I don't think we need to worry. If you are worried, We can just call it "THE HAMMER .12"

HAMMER

Oh! One more thing. The other Hmm...Hmm Hammer Head is spelled wrong. They can have that name for all I'm concerned. Hammerhead should be Hammerhead (like my boat) not Hammer Head like theirs.

Theirs is just a Chunk of heavy steal that goes on the end of a wood handle. It is used for pounding nails.

Hammerhead

Wade sent me a site last night and I explored it today, it was one for the collars. I went in to their Distributors area and found at least 3 right here in town, 1 within a mile of my house!

I like the Hammerhead .12 name and would like to stick with it, the one thing we do have on it is that the name came from Japan, not the USA. Let someone sue all of the Cobra's, Viper's, Pirahna's, etc.

I don't think he has a copyright on the name.

Isn't the shark named for its resemblance of that chunk of metal?

I can't wait to see how the plans come out. I have mine design in the build stage now, tub done, foam cut for sponsons. I have some .18 carbon tube but it looks kinda small.

Well, I have a great idea!!!! We will call it the Hammerhead .12, and call me the CEO.

If someone wants to come here and trudge their way through the Japanese legal system (which usually takes 15-20 years and millions of dollars to settle corperate differences)

They are more than welcome.

As far as the collars, I think the set screw ones will work fine. I use them on mine, and I have run my boat close to forty tanks without them vibrating loose. 2.00 a piece for the clamp type vs .45 cents a piece for the set screw type. I think if they were checked once after a day of running, just as someone should do anyway, they will present no problem.

Mine use 2 set screws each. How about the ones you are looking at? Then again! 8 bucks per boat for boom collars (clamp type) isn't that bad. And the clamp type are...definately better. I will go either way. You make the call, Ron!

If you use the set screw type, you will have to use thin outer pipes, though. 0.5mm

or less.

The Japanese for Hammerhead is SHUMOKUZAME Hmmmm!

SHUMOKUZAME .12 (not cool at all)

yea,

matts right, the walmart special ones are composite fiberglass which is absolutely great for a 10-year old kid learning archery but not much else....anything in the easton Camohunter line or any easton arrows in a higher price range are great, they're straight to .003 or less of an inch and would probably make a great boom.

hammer,

i dont think you hafta worry about the elec guys suing, i've talked to Don [the head guy @ rumrunner] and he's very nice and agreeable.

I'm not worried about it. My nickname is Hammerhead, and it has been hammerhead for years longer than I have been involved with the internet. Nobody has asked me to not use the name yet. If they do, I'm sure we will be able to find a peaceful way of solving the problem. I suppose if I named my boat the Martin .12.

There would be a few people in Nashville upset with me even though it is my given name.

I just got off the phone with Gary Preusse. He is going to send me some info on running hardware in the mail. He also has a lot of stuff available for the .12 'riggers including the Octura V937 and V940 props. He also has some fast water-cooled engines like the ones he set the record with in stock and is going to be contacting Bill McGraw tomorrow about the new Rossi .12's.

That is great Ron! I am now working on converting the model to inches. This might take a little bit to get everything adjusted properly. But I am well on my way. We are getting very close!! ;D

guys,

[hammer especially] what do you think of sending an email to RCBM and asking about writing a review of the boat for them? i know Jerry Dunlap has alot of experience writing for them so he could probably give some info on who to contact.

Joe

Hey Lax! One step at a time! If it comes to that, I think Ron will take care of it.

I took her out at lunch today. Got some radar on her.

Here are the results with 3 different props and the same needle. I adjusted the strut for the 220, though.

V937 88km/h

Backcut, lobe lopped S215 86km/h

220 balanced only. The strut pulled up 1.5mm from the setting with the other two props 91km/h

It drifts in the corners at full throttle. I need to find something with the same pitch at the 220 and less diameter. Hmmmm! Help me out if you have something off the top of your head.

Guess I'm asking too much for 60mph, but pretty close. Not bad for a heat racer.

Hammer

Hammer,

You need a Octura X-442,X-642,1742/3,or in ABC Prop

a H-4,42x55,40x62/3,40x52/3,or a 40x53.All of these

Props are in the perameters of less than 44mm X66mm

which is what the Prather 220 is.I can get you all of

these props to try ,as I have just become a ABC dealer

here in Michigan. What is the shipping like to Japan?

Thanks,

Mark Sholund :)

Gee, YA THINK!? 50+ MPH......! That's screamin' Hammer!

Well done! BTW....I'm working on a logo for Hammerhead Racing Inc.!

Mark! You have mail.

Erin! We are looking for something to put on the box.

Something that we can print out on A4 sticker paper and slap on

the box. I will have to figure out what to put on the label in Japanese, and send you cut of it so you will be able to cut and paste appropriately. When you are finished with what you are doing, send it to Wade, and let him have a looksy!

Hammer

yea,

guess im kind ahead of things...... : :)

hammer, what dia. are you looking for in booms so i can see about easton arrows?

hhmmm......i just realized that being in Junior High and all im not really on top of copyright laws.....is it OK to sell a product containing the product of another company without their consent? [though im sure easton would readily give consent]
