Hey,

Topfuel, I live in Holy Hill  I'm a member of Eutawville Flyers at Rocks Pond {ex}. Have a place to test my new boat at eutawsprings close to Bell"s Marina.

hammer-

Hensil Ring,

my retired-machinist friend who got me into boating is on a resperator in the hospital because of horrible ephasema [sp], so the firefighter .12 project is on hold :'( :-[ im not sure for how long... i would like to get him a hammerhead kit if possible to cheer him up when he's "back in business", i think he might get a kick out of beating the pants of off me'n matt if we raced lil' riggers [with a combo of your hammerhead and hensil's workmanship defeat would be inevitable :p :) ]

anyway,

i just thought i'd let you know im interested, i think either a kit or kit/hardware combo would be really great, and Grim's tanks would be a plus depending on the additional price.

This is what I have determined. If I supplied the hardware kit and the boom sets that I use with my hammerhead to Ron so he could add them to the kit, I think the price would turn off a lot of people. That is not are idea or reason behind introducing this as a kit. We just want to get people involved. I know that Tom uses fuller stuff, Ron is checking out what the speed freaks are using. I think will be able to come up with something a lot better than what I'm using for a lot less money.

The hardware isn't the problem. Getting the carbon rods for the booms in a size that I can supply grub collars for might be a challenge, but we'll get it. This kit will be ten time better than my prototype.

I do think that offering it in a few stages of completeness is a good idea. For the guys who want to just pop in their radio gear and go ( after building of course), or for the people who want to choose their own hardware, perhaps make their own. Why not?

We'll get it down! And we won't keep you waiting long.

Hammer--what about Joe's idea of carbon fiber arrow shafts? They should be a uniform size and easy for just about anybody to get (sporting goods stores, Wal-Mart, etc.)

Hey Propjockey! We are looking for some rods that are approximately 5mm in diameter that will slide perfectly into a states market available aluminum pipe. I'm sure if we chase it down we can find it. As for as the basics. I think that is all we are really short of at the moment.

Gonna have a heading on it in noooo time!

Hammer:

I just got some 1/4" carbon rod from ASP and it fits just right in a

9/32" OD aluminum tube from K&S. Is the problem that your grub

collars are in mm.

I think that the 1/4 inch is 6.35mm. That is a little heavy.

Do they make any thing in the 5mm area?

How about grub collars. Can we get them, too.

I don't have to stick with the ones I have here, you know. If they have them over there, they will be fine.

I bought (2) 31" Carbon Arrow shafts and the OD is 5/16. I haven't found a K&S tube ID that will fit the arrow. The Arrow is hollow but the inside dimension is odd-ball I think that metric K&S brass tube might work. I'm not sure

I think that is why most don't use a std. carbon arrow. I have seen a smaller diameter arrow -but Walmart doesn't stock it.

Some have suggested graphite Kite spars. They are available in different OD's

These are the grub collars I want to use.

I will give you the site to the place I get my stuff. Sorry it is in Japanese, but you can check out the pics and prices.

Scroll down to where it says COFFEE BREAK, and click the light blue links for the pics of parts they have. Very High qualityStuff

Hmmm! Won't show the pic. Guess you will have to click the attachment icon at the bottom to see it. Thanks for the info Eric. URL for K&S please. Are they the same guys who made my K&S Pacer air boat?

You might check this site out for CF tubes!

http://www.citystar.com/hang-emhigh/ushop/

I used the Pro*spar-PC15 tubes on my ,12 and they seem to be really strong. 32.5" for $5.50. I measured them at .278 ID (about 7mm). They

make great spars for sail boats.

However, I wouldn't think it would be too hard to find 1/4" ID aluminum

collars.

Thanks for the info Don :-*

I will check out the stuff they have. I will also tell Wade and Ron to have a looksy!

Hammer

Thanks Erin! That is cheap!!!!

They are in mm sizes, too couldnt be more perfect.

Now I can get Ron the collars and aluminum outer pipe.

Yeah!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D

Hammer

Eric, they carry both metric & inch rods. They just have everything listed in inch equivalent. The .196 rod is 5mm if you do the conversion. This is great info as well! ;D thank you

hammer and co. [sorry couldnt resist, it's hard to know who's involved in the project and whos just interested like me] -

take a look at cabelas.com for carbon arrows, take it from a bowhunter they are the cheapest and best place to buy. also, i've got an arrow sizing chart that i can probably find the right ones to use with. arrows are measured in length., dia, and spine....if you tell me the diameter needed i can probably find the easton arrows with the most spine for the dia.
