Hi Mark S  I wonder that will sell zoom 45 carb price? will fit to MAC45? let me know thanks, Allan

Hello Allan, I will answer for Mark. He is away from home for job training.

Yes the Zoom 45 will fit the MAC 45 also. The first prototype is performing beyond our original expectations.

As Jon Thibodeau said in another thread. You are not going to get rich building and selling parts for the boating hobby. In designing, testing & building the Zoom 21, I ended up working for less than minimum wages. This part of the hobby is caught between the "one of a kind prototype and full production runs

"on parts. The minumum number, that I have found, of quality parts for a afforadable production run is 50. This is for high quality, produced in the United States, parts. Even then the setup and tooling cost is a large part of the overall cost.

For me it is a love of this hobby....sport....obsession to make quality parts avaliable for other boaters at a reasonable price without outsourcing to other countries. Before I go outside of this country to get work done, I will work for minimum wages to accomplish this.

I do not depend on the boating hobby for my living. I do quite well otherwise. :)

That said, I don't have a price as yet. It will be one that both of us can live with.

Thanks, Charles

Hello Tommy, I was't ignoring your question, I just had gotten busy.

The 12 size carbs are the nearest to completion, the 45 size is in the testing stage to be next in line, the 67 carb is in the initial stages and I am in the process of getting the parts and tooling together to build the protype for the gas carbs.

The larger carbs will be after them.

Too far away to give even an estimated date.

Thanks, Charles

Charles:

Extra Cool to see you involved with this project. Knowing how you do things, these will be State of the Art. I still remember well the boat, that Steve and Jack brought out to Indy to Dazzle all of us :)

Kevin and James,

Your Zoom-21 carbs are on the way. Just getting home from two weeks of

training, and I will be catching up before the holidays. Anyone else needs a

Zoom-21 that I may have forgotten about, shoot me a PM on here please.

Little update: Zoom-12's have passed the first real good testing sessions,

and they were IMPRESSIVE to say the least. :D :D :D

Thanks For The Orders,

Mark Sholund

Tom,

Zoom carbs will need a needle, but Charles is working on that currently.

Some new parts will be coming out of Tennessee in the New Year. I just

received a few nice new pieces to test today.

Thanks,

Mark Sholund

I had a feeling that would be the case..... i really don't care for remote needles. Let me know if he figures that out...

Hello Tom. When using a carb with the needle in the carb, adjustable or not, in a rigger, there is very limited space to work with. In the smaller classes, 12 and 21,the needle actually is outside of the hull. Even in the larger classes this makes using a cowl very difficult.

I have designed a remote needle base that is very compact and also very adaptable to routing the fuel

lines and the servo linkage. This needle base is for the OS Needle assembly. It will be avaliable after the first of the year.

It fits nicely in the Firefighter 12, doesn't interfere with the cowl either.

Thanks for the interest. Charles

Has anyone used a Zoom Carb on a Mac .21 outboard motor?

What were the results? How was throttle management? Could you actually slow down and throttle up?

Thanks,

Robert

Hello Robert. Mark Hopper @ HTB Boats has been running one on a CMB mounted on a HTB outboard for about a year with good success. He can mill off-plane for several laps and be on-plane at the start of the race within a very short distance, throttling up and down during the race as needed.

The Zoom carb has also been run on a Mac 21 buggy engine inboard in a 20 Seaducer with the same results.

Thanks for the interest. Charles

What is the status for the 45 version Zoom carb ?

Which engines will they fit - different bodies - bore dia and other specs - production status - ordering - price - PayPal ?

Kim

Hello Kim, the prototype MAC 45 Zoom carb, the 12 Zoom carb and the CMB 67 Greenie Zoom carbs are nearing the end of there test, they are working EXTREMELY well. The CMB Cam 45 carb is almost ready to test. There is just too many other engines to tool up and test carbs for to make them practical to produce at this time.

I will probably be converting some of the other carbs to the Zoom style at a later date.

No other info is avaliable at this time.

Thanks for asking.....Charles
