At last years IMPBA Internats i got into a discussion about having a Vintage rigger class.

What makes a hull vintage, motors, scratch built. kits?

I have a few rigger kits NIB like the hustler, bushwacker, and others..

Just thinking out loud.

There are plenty to be had, look on eBay. I happen to know where an old Hughey .21 'rigger is at that I'd like to get my hands on. Seeing one of those run would bring back memories. I could have scored an old K&B 7.5 'rigger about 2 months ago. Someone had bought a house and found 2 boats hidden away, the other was a Prather Spitfire OB 3.5 that was in poor shape.

What would make it a vintage boat? It would have to be out of production for XX years to qualify and use as near as possible the original parts plus an engine from that time period.

NHRA has some meets where they run old T/F Front-engined Dragsters, some of the old Gasser's and AA Altereds.

I have Bill LeFeber's 60 Crapshooter from the 70's. I just need some time to get it restored and find an OOPS 60 to put in it.

Even being an OB type guy, I've got one of those Wing Dings in my collection. Has a OPS 45 that I can't get to fire up for some reason. Always wanted to see that boat run...

I have a 60 Crapshooter OPS in running order that I used to race against Bill LeFeber's!

I have a Model T JK

If your going to run this class you should have limit's to what year motor's/ boat's and only run what they ran back then no modern stuff this will be a good class for the poeple that don;t want to spend an arm and a leg on go fast stuff and still race competivly and have a lot of fun doing it

How about making 1990 the cut off point. Lap times really started dropping from that point on.

That would make coyote legal.

I think it would be easiest to list what would NOT be leagle.

I will start a list of what I know and everyone can add the "modern" boats that they Know will be illeagle.

Illeagle riggers.

All Eagles, SGs SGX.

All Roadrunners

All Stu Barr Crapshooters

Modifided Coyotes with

big turnfins.

Hawks

Ninjas

We should make a leagel list too.

Typical O/B guy, spinning the engine the wrong way....

I can lend out my Sundowner if need be!

This is a cool thread. I had the idea years ago.....my business partner races vintage motocross and I always thought a vintage boat race would be very cool. I never brought it up because I thought there would be no interest. I like Andys' list and direction........I have a BRAND NEW unbuilt mongoose twin .90 kit!!! Bring it on!!!!

How about the Octura "White Heat IV" it was a 4 point hydro, still have enough from two kits to build another one with a Rossi 45 in it from 20 yrs ago.

Eric,

man twin Mongoose. You could power it w/the old square black head OPS .90's or some Rossi's, it'll look old school! ;)

We were running large hooked turn fins in the very early 80s.
