Anthony, take the carb off the motor, and check the surface of the crank while turning the flywheel. You want a clean surface without score marks. You are correct.... Replace the bearings, before running again. 4 gallons is pushing your luck. Use factory Novarossi/Top bearings from Glenn. Richard DI think that is good advice an the bearings. I'm at about 4 gallons through that motor. All original but the head button. I think I'll get some bearings on the way,.. I think the P/L and rod are just fine,.. I think this would be a good time to change the bearings.
I always run the fuel out, flush a little WD40 through the motor, then just FLOOD it with oil after I run it.. and leave it in there till next time.
