Great job Glen boy you could hear just how choppy it was in the back corner Looked pretty fast too! Wisxh you could make it here so Mark and Doc could see the baby twin.

all makes sense glenn... thing is for sure no slouch......i remember you saying that you had switched over to the wire drives you use... did you see a noticable difference between the cables and the wires?????

the absolute coolest thing about a twin .12 rigger,,, is that they could be built at a reasonable price... this puts the "average rc boater" in the runnings to build one... this alone makes the cool factor way higher...........

i love it glenn,,, and now that you have a new found love for it,,, i hope to see some more video's.... i would be interested in seeing what it does on the gun...

Thanks Bill! Yeah I would love to come over and race with you guys one day soon...Mark and Doc are two of the guys I consider "twin masters" and would happily take any pointers they had. Yeah even though it was glass smooth where I was sitting (protected from the 15mph wind) it was a good solid 3"-4" chop on the back.

AC, yes I think there is a performance advantage with the wires in the smaller boats. I use them in ALL of my .12 stuff now and am putting one in my new .21 boat (thanks to the development work by Charles Perdue).

Yes the cost is much less that running a "real" twin! I'm thinking a guy could build one with my Nova motors for something in the $600 range (buying everything new). Or less if they had spare hardware, etc around to use and even less if they use some of the less expensive motors on the market (or course I would never recommend that ;) )

Although I am very happy with this project, I still do not consider it very fast...it is not as fast as my single .12 heat racing boat. I may put it on the gun one day when I have someone out to help me although I am really not that worried about how fast it is (or isn't).

Over the last few years I have sold several sets of motors to guys building twin .12's and would like to see or hear about those projects. My next project is going to be another twin .21 running gear boxes. I will race that one with the .45 boats and may drop some .28's in it to race with the .65 boats.

Hi Glenn,

"Twin .21's with gear boxes". So would that be twin .21's geared to one prop shaft? Can that be done without clutches? Would spinning one engine turn the other engine? So you start the first engine and then just put the glow driver on the second until it starts? Would you gear for higher or lower rpm's at the prop?

Sorry for the loaded questions, just interested in the project....

Thanks.

Where are the fuel tanks?
Under the pipes.. Joe talked to Glen acouple of days ago to get info add measurments.. Joe is going to build a twin JAE.12.. I think he's nuts but I know he can pull it off. after watching Glen twin.12 running that got joe really going on building his own.

No, the motors will be completely separate...each motor with it's own drive shaft. The gear box is just to adjust the prop RPM (bigger prop turning slower) to motor RPM. It lets the motor get up the to RPM band where they make their best power and I think the bigger props run a little more efficiently. It also turn the motor around backwards so the pipe comes straight out the back.

O.K. thanks for the details. I've seen those gear drives, they seem to use them allot in other countries. They run them in Delta Force monos...

Friends, I finally have a bit of video!!! I was pretty happy with the way it ran again today, but of course a new issue showed up. The afterrun oil I use is very slippery (Mobil Jet One) and if I don't clean the pipes and couplers really good before I put it together, the coupler slides off the pipes. It did it each run today so I never got more than a few laps. But I was happy overall. I was running the largest set of 1440 props Mark built for me. You can't tell in the video, but the water was really bumpy on the left end and back straight.

that boat makes me want a twin 12. That thing runs great.

Glenn that baby is sick !! I love the sound and performance !! What size tanks and what percent oil and fuel do you run in a motor setup like that ? Killer , keep the vids coming , it's good to see i'm not the only guy launching boats from a daily driver !! (Twin 90 Rigger ) :D :D :D

TWINS - MMmmmmmm

What else can ya say
