Bill.. You are not correct in one of your statements..At the time of our voting Sikk motors were allowed and only rear cockpits.. As of Monday last week Dist 19 proposed new rules and passed...So what we did was vote on old rules....did you know these rules were going to be changed at our meeting.....Dist 19 doesn't even start racing until Feb 22-24 of 08 ,,they have plenty of time to make changes...
Again most racers in the country dont have the weather we have and the ability to race year round...They have 2-4 months to save $,,build boats and purchace engines.. With the Winter Nats 5 weeks away and Holidays upon us.....Why on earth would we say to racers comming from out of town,,plans made, hotels booked,,etc,,etc Sorry plans change on the 11th Hour,,your hull, motor is not legal to race in 5 weeks,,,now that person is either going to spend unexpected funds over the holidays to race in this class...Or simply not show up to race THUNDERBOATS and we dont want this....

That is not what any of us are about...NAMBA's first statement is TO PROMOTE MODEL BOATING and that is what we are doing UNTIL NAMBA sets its OWN rules for All NAMBA Dist to Follow and when that happens WE WILL Follow those rules to the TEE..Just like we always have...

The VooDoo did this last month and had a great turnout,,boats/engines of all kinds and had a BLAST showcasing these Boats...With no freakin backlash,,just pure fun...Hum think about that...

Again,,,We know what rules to follow and will do so,,all we want is to let the guy who has already built his/her boat come out and play with the full KNOWING that Dist 3 will Follow NAMBA RULES when this class becomes a HIGH POINT EVENT or NAMBA sets its own rules,,which ever is first......Until then LET HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mike

IW is not to place to discuss this but if you look at D3 website under D3 news you will see that we voted on Zenoah engines only and boats to comply to D19 rules. Just my 2 cents.

Bill

Bill,,you are correct on discussing this on IW,, and correct on the web page,, but all we are saying AGAIN

We know what rules to follow and will do so,,all we want is to let the guy who has already built his/her boat come out and play with the full KNOWING that Dist 3 will Follow NAMBA RULES when this class becomes a HIGH POINT EVENT or NAMBA sets its own rules,,which ever is first......Until then LET HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This means,,,If you are in Dist 3 and in the future you want to look into building one of these boats,,PLEASE look very closely at the proposed NAMBA rules to comply with our DIST..But if you have a boat that is outside the proposed rules and want to run with us in the meantime PLEASE DO SO AND WE WELCOME IT....

There really is not a problem, just a group of guys who want to promote model boating to the fullest & a few who want to kick the hornet's nest. Again, hat's off to the NAMBA D3 directors trying to do the right thing & promote model boating. At least some can see the forest for the trees............. ;)

I propose that all Thunderboats be exactly 51.0024589" long and the only engine allowed is a 1978 Homelite with a ugly ass 2 stack muffler blowing oil all over the back half of the boat. Only leaded 87 octane gas is allowed and used motor oil from a 1961 Chrysler that has been in a junkyard for at least 13 years must be added to the gas at 38%. The prop must be hammered out from an old Bud Can and must be at least 4.0245893" but not more than 6.147892" in diameter. A detailed Driver must be installed in the Cockpit resembling Howard Hughes after a long night of peeing in jars and swatting at imaginary Germs.

Ya'll lighten up. It's all fun.

I still don't think we need any more classes to "Promote" the hobby.

**** Don, did you roll with that one or what!?!?!?!?!?!?
Rick
Ummmm, guess you know why I've been kinda quiet lately. Actually the Zippkits boat is fairly easy, a couple things I'd do a little differently during the build if I did another one (I also changed some stuff during this build, imagine that  ) but all in all one hell of a deal @$169 and a nice boat too. There are a few guys already running them & say they really run well, can't wait to try mine. B)
Don,

You were here while you were looking for yourself but I turned my back and you were gone. I have no fear, for you are still looking for yourself and I know when you find yourself you will be here to tell me to keep you here until you are found. That's a reply to your signature. It makes about as much sense as this thread. Race Boats! I'm gonna race my sport hydro in the thunderboat class if we don't have enough boats to fill the class here in district 12 until we have enough thunderboats to fill the class. Who is going to say NO. I don't want to see you sitting under your tent with a long face because no one else came out with a thunder boat to play boats. We WILL make it work. Yes, it's another class, but it's what this hobby is all about...........building boats that resemble the real thing. What better way is there to preserve the history of racing.
Since were building boats that RESEMBLE the real thing and preserving the HISTORY of racing and if D-12 is so cutting edge, can I build a Zippkit tunderboat with a 90-1.00 nitro motor and run in the class. Let's "Race boats!" Why are any new classes a one way street, Gas only. MHO if you really want to make it work. ;) ;)

We already have nitro versions of these, it's called 1/8th scale. Not to mention a typical .90 makes almost double the h.p. of a stock 26cc gasser which these are restricted to. ;)

On the topic of the Zipkitts i built one in november and never seen the rules on it till the december roostertail.I run IMPBA so i find out after the fact the exhaust must exit the transom.I did mine like they show in the manual to build the hull they have it coming out of the side.If its legal other than my exhaust which i dont want to change can IMPBA change the wording to exit the hull?My thinking is the real hulls had the exhaust off of the motor. Not tru the transom so i see no reason to really have the exhaust out of the transom.Im not trying to stir the pot here.I see its not in the current rule book either.I also sent a email to IMPBA hoping they can reword it.Any thoughts on this?

I'll look into this for you Bruce. I think the true intent is to keep the pipe concealed & if one follows Joe Petro's current instructions the pipe is definitely concealed, it just has the outlet almost at the transom thru the side of the hull. :)

I propose that neither IMPBA nor NAMBA consider adding any more classes for the next 10 years to Save the sport of R/C Boat Racing! This is my Opinion and only MY Opinion!
Crucify Me if You Wish. I can take it!!!

I agree

Give the new classes we have already added on a couple years to set in before adding any more i have nothing against this class looks like a great one. Just my 2 cents Robert
