A couple of years ago I was at a race and several people had a type of folding table to use to start boats on. I thought they had "QuickSilver" or something like that on them. Looked like a taller more sturdy version of a tv tray, folded up flat. They looked really convenient to use. I am looking for something like that to take to the pond for testing and to races. I have an old folding table but really want something to take to the pits and start on. Any ideas where to get something like that?

Thanks.

Those Quicksilver tables were made by Ron Van Wagnen and they are no longer in production. They are definitely kick a$$ tables, I have Ron's original prototype with steel legs, a bit heavier than the production ones that were aluminum. If you find one used grab it & run!!

That was the "Quicksilver" table made by Ron VanWagnen. I'm not sure if he still offers them. I am using a small "Lifetime" folding sold at "Sams Club" that sells for about $20. I use the same non-slip rubber on top as Ron.

Ron is not making them any longer but he said that Ryobi made a table that is a lot like his.

I tried the Ryobi website & don't see any listings for tables. :(
I haven't seen them recently. They may have stopped making them as well.

I use the fold up table found in the hunting department at Walmart, it cost 20 bucks and it is made of wood 1X1's and has fold up legs similar to the fold up chairs in the long bags we use at the races. If you can't find them do what Bob Morton does, start his boats on a old "wooden ironing board". This works well to because there is no bending or stooping over.

Bob's ironing board is legendary!! He should have an odometer on that thing it seen so many miles!!! In all the years I've known Bob that's what he's used! :D :D :D :D

Try a company called Lifetime. They make a metal framed, textured plastic top table that is strong and light. 48"x24" runs about 40-50$. Found mine at Office Max.

A four foot long STARTING table??? We not talking about something you'd have back at your pit area. :p

Some race sites I've been to guys would have a brain hemorrage if you plopped a 4 foot by 2 foot table in the hot pits. :p :p :p

Yea, yea I know thats a big one, but at our site at the races the tables are usually setup there for everyone to share. Those bigger tables sure are nice. :p :p

Look in the R/C Modeler magazine and there are a few stands made for airplanes and helicopters. I've made my own out of 1x2 's and have a bottom shelf and a fold down upper shelf. You can adapt it to the boats by making your own upper cradles. I use mine for planes and the tunnels. It works great !!!!!

PS: there are two companys that make them !!!

www.crusadertoys.com and www.sidewakflyers.com
