Sport .12 T-4

Friends, here is the next generation sport .12 SAW boat I have built for Donna. Since the IMPBA sport .12 rules specifically allow models of scale two wing hydros, I thought I would scale down a T-4 and try it! I haven't had a chance to weight this one yet, but hoping it will be in the 1.5 lb range RTR.

Is it mostly balsa over foam cores Glen? What is the tub construction? Geat looking boat Glen and I am sure Donna is going to like it!!

Yeah the canoes are mostly 1/16 balsa over foam and the tub is 1/8 balsa sides with 1/64 ply top and bottom. The bulkheads are carbon/honeycomb . The wings are 1/16 balsa over foam also.

I'll post more pics when I get it finished.

Just weighted it at the post office. With the final finish, motor and most of the hardware it is 1lb 1.7oz. I'm pretty much on track for my final weight...

Got the radio installed, pipe mount complete and wings covered. Getting close now.

Got it finished up a couple days ago. Final weight (without cowling ) is 1lb 11oz. It's a little heavier than I wanted, but it is a bigger boat. I have run it a few times and after a couple sponson changes it is working good!! Going to design and build the cowling today (hopefully it doesn't change the way it runs!!).

Thanks Bob! The wings are covered with monokote. I don't really like it so I'm going to change to the stick on vinyl like I use for the radio box cover.

It is just easier to use when I want to change colors. It does stick pretty good!
