I wrapped the boats in bubble wrap and also filled the voids in the box with bubble wrap.

Not sure if boats would suffer this fate, but I read a horror story a while back about a Top Gun (model airplanes) contestant that sent his entry to the competition by air. At altitude, the air pressure differential inside the unpressurized baggage hold caused the bubble wrap to expand inside the crate, completely crushing the model. :blink:
