Terry, long time no see. last time was New York 1997 I believe. We worked on the record trials part of the internats together for a while. I think you did most of the work. You seemed to like the microphone more than I did. Wish you could be here. We are due a good weekend. The last 3 trials down here have been more about watching the wind blow than anything else.

I don't believe a word of any of this, John. I'm sure that you had a bicycle to ride that had playing cards clothespinned to the frame that flapped in the spokes of the wheels so everyone heard you coming down the street!

The last 3 trials down here have been more about watching the wind blow than anything else.
That wasn't the wind - that was just Don talking again for two days straight :lol: - I was there running the timing equipment freezing my butt off that one year - no boats to listen to, just him.
Sorry Don - our season's over I have to make sure you're picked on plenty over the winter

Hey, I did that card trick on the bike spokes! Small wonder that my parents had to buy frequent sets of replacement playing cards for their weekly bridge games. LOL.

It should have been warmer that year for you, with all that HOT air blowing around!! LOL. Could not resist. Will go to my room now. Don is going to send me there.
It was so cold and nasty even Don couldn't help - Preston's got pics in his album I think - I look 50 lbs heavier just because of all the layers I had on to stay warm.
Hopefully this year they will have good weather - so much work and really long days for these guys just to sit and wait if the weather isn't right.

You guys crack me up!!! But that wasn't the worst one, I remember one year at oval trials we tried to stay warm hovering over Kentley's grill under a covered tent! With whitecaps on the pond the only boat to even brave the waters was Mike Saleeby's 57" Aeromarine Signature gas mono and even that was barely manageable.

I went to school in Boston. Yes, I did walk two miles to school in the snow in the winter and yes, I did use cards to make that varooooooom noise on the spokes. I used Boston Redsocks basesball cards

looks like the hurricane may be offshore come Saturday. We can't catch a break.
hurricane????? last night they said it was barely a tropical depression, winds 42mph. still a lot of rain, though. think positive, john. after growing up in miami, that's minor stuff. still don't need the weather, optimum conditions set records better. was headed northwest, too-away from us........
