Anthony, the easiest and most affective oilers I use are nothing more than a piece of the brass tubing shaft log material silver soldered to the shaft log itself. If you are unable to solder all the way around it, JB weld around the shaft log & oiler joint. Drill your 1/16'' hole before soldering.

Word of advice, you DO NOT HAVE to mount it close to the front end of the shaft log, all it does is make a mess in the bilge of the boat, 3' aft of the front end is a good place to start,, Mercury/Quicksilver gear lube plus (yellow label) works great, and doesn't stink like rotten eggs.

Look in the shutterfly link in my signature for pictures.

Buckshot,.. I can 't help but notice those 2 giant holes in the back of your radio box,.. what is going on there?
The boat has 2 radio boxes, that is the pc of wood separating the two.

John,.. seems like I always have issues with stuck collets, grease running out,.. etc etc.. I just want to put it in there and leave it for a while.. and get some good constant lubrication.
Once it is in place you can still go back to grease if you don't like the oil.

Installed the oiler on the sp21. The oil runs into the shaft faster than I expected. Going to the heaviest synthetic I can get at the auto parts store.

How big of a hole did you put through the shaft log?

Too thick of oil will just take the benefits of the oiler away.. Don't know why you wouldn't take my advice... Lord knows I have no experience with shaft oilers!!!!!
