Looking for an engine for the LSG 27 rigger class. Looking at the C.M.B. Alpha, Tiger king or QuickDraw Pioneer. Price seems to similar for all three. Any comments on what’s worked to best guys. It will go into a rigger. Appreciate good insight guys

Modified Zenoahs are less expensive and do well in heat racing with the right pipe and prop. Otherwise, Quickdraw is a complete package with very good power. Again you need the right prop and setup. The power differences won't show up as much in heat racing as in SAW events.

Lohring, thanks for the input. I have had numerous Zenoah's and have had some success given the right mods. But having said that I’m looking for a foolproof set up. I know some guys are modifying the CMBs but seems to me it’s heavier and with the upfront engine price then cost for modifications its the most expensive route. I don't hear much about the Tiger Kings nor have I seen many people running them so I dont trust it wthout some input. Sounds like a good option with a sleeved jug etc. I assume the QD come fully race ready, no need for mods so its the best option if you want a top motor. Do I have anything wrong here? Price is not a top consideration since its looks like any of these are going to put you out about $1200.

Going by customers and people who have seen the Pioneers run against Zen there is a big difference. That is assuming the persons setting up both boats have everything set correctly. A stock Zen could whip a Pioneer if the prop is wrong, not enough air getting into engine, carb is set wrong. Person can't drive... etc.

Keeping it real 💯

I hearing many club races won’t let the QD run in the LSG 26-27 class. I assume that’s not an issue with the C.M.B. alpha ?

Not considered a production engine. Must be mass produced. The idea is to keep the engine price down in a competitive environment, but the C.m.b. is just as expensive so it confusing

CMB gas are overweight overpriced and not a common choice unless you got deep pockets.

I have a nostalgic connection with Quick Draw so I like the engines.
Although I must confess the BZM is a good choice.with the new 35cc coming available
