Walt I remember something bout if the stator is red or black and the problem was droping cylinders after the engine warmed up.

Blowing the rectifier you might check your wiring for loose connection, frays or breaks on the powerhead and battery.

Just a idea........

Good Idea on the wireing will go over the engine and all wireing with a eagle eye.

Walt, i dug out my merc manual yesterday. it's too old to cover your 1994, & just had simple ohm tests.......you're in good hands with tom, i agree most stator issues show up under a load/while running across the lake.

Thanks, robin I have decided to change out the Stator and recitifier, both at the same time. I checked the stator and it would charge intermiterly, and the tack would not work getting no power, Time to bit the bullet and fix it right.

That still is a steep $ increase, they were $135 for a V6 stator from sierra back in the stone age........
