I am working on my first tuned pipe, I have a mac pipe for my os .10fsr. I am still learning the basics on pipe length. Can anyone tell me how to get the correct pipe length or refer me to any past posts that explain this. This boat is just for fun and not competition. Any advice would be great. Thanks

You can start at 7-1/2" then go from there to fine tune it. Yes, there will be a lot of cutting involved.

Do I cut the header length first or measure from the plug to the widest part of the pipe and cut from the header and the pipe. Thanks

You got the measurement right, following the flow of gas from the center of the plug to the widest point of the pipe. You can cut both header and pipe. I cut from the pipe first until it runs out of flat area for the coupler to grab, then cut the header.

Yes, that's the way I do it also. Make sure that you leave a gap between the header and pipe, two reasons. One, if they rub they can cause radio interference, and two, it gives you a little room for adjustment.

Thanks guys for the info ,I will give it a shot. This boat I am working on is a Dumas Lil Rascal that I have had for 18+ years. I decided to get it out and finish it. I am going to use octura running hardware on it. In past posts on this forum, I have found alot of useful info on how to make this boat work right. Great forum, thanks. Brent
