Im very excited for you guys and the future of tunnel boat racing in Australia

If i might i would highly recommend looking into both a Sport tunnel class and a mod tunnel class. Might sound like a far-fetched idea at this time but even at a small club level it works quite well.

The guys that want to run mod tunnel can do so with their sport tunnels. If they want to they can add a pipe but more then not the sport boats will run with the mod boats so dont be fooled by the performance of a good sport tunnel.

Hey Mike,

That would be good to have two separate classes, but being realistic, there just aren't enough of them around to have 2 separate classes.

An issue that is becoming more and more obvious is that we have too many classes in total, meaning the number of rounds at a major event is having to be reduced. This means waiting longer to race, and less value for money.

Chris,

You should build your mate a WOF30 also. (sorry - I forgot his name - the guy with the altered....)

Tim

Hi.

I think that 2 Wof's is enough for now. But I think that he wants a Gasser for some reason. I'll try to talk him out of it. I think that it will be easy to do as he can't use Nitro in it...... and he loves his Nitro. Owen is his name anyway.

Hay tim did you know that you got 3rd place in something on the weekend?

Have a look at the wof.

Chris,

Let Owen have the second one you were going to build for me, if he wants it. I'd rather see him get started with an outboard so that he can race with you guys and it also means more people in the class. It's all good.

Let me know what you think about that idea. Also, can you PM me the info on the foam or spare a chunk of it?

Once Mark gets his new boat and you have the WOF's done - the MBCofNSW will have some very good boats racing. No short little kite's any more! 2 villains, 2 WOF30's, A WOF 27, plus a lynx and a Nemesis in the build.

Chris, looks like some fun times ahead ;) - good luck with the build.

Tim, who's building the Nemesis?

Would also be nice to see Owen up and running - the more the merrier.

Gino

PS what's wrong with kite's - I like flying them :p :p

He Gino,

Hope you are feeling better! I just bought something from the kite shop actually - hope it flies!

Andrew Young is building a Nemesis B) Come on Andrew - I know you are out there reading this  - introduce yourself :p :p

Like i said it might seem a bit unrealistic at this time but you could really hurt your chances of keeping tunnel racing alive if you run piped boats only.. To tell you the truth you would be better having a sport class only to start and in a year or two add piped boats.

I would give it your best effort to run both classes. Again don’t let the little sport boats fool you.. A well setup sport tunnel will lay waist to a modestly set up piped boat. Now you have the chance of running both..

As a for instance I stopped running piped boats back in 99. With the exception of the 2002 internats that’s all I ran.

I won..

4 district championships

The Minuet Breakers classic.. (a very prestigious tunnel race)

The 3.5cc Wisconsin state championships

And multiple club races all with a sport motor.

I can not say when its best for anybody to race a piped boat. To me its two different animals with the sport boat having the advantage of being able to race both classes.

ROCK ON

Mike

I hear ya Mike. At the moment they are all unpiped, but one is not far off being ready and once it hits the water I just know the other guys will want them too.

I think it would be better if they stuck with the "sport boats" and learned as much as they can about making them go fast before going to pipes.

The other problem is we have some of the best outboard pipes made right here in Oz.....

Have you still got Wicked Wanda? B)

Hi

I don't tink that I'll go. I've got to much building to do!

But what if we just want to show the Gassers how it's done?

A well sorted "sport tunnel" is able to run 45mph - 48mph. To run in the 50's with a pipe you have to spend money.... usually on an Italian engine.

When a gas guy asks you "what size engine is that" That means "you are faster than me with your little boat - please tell me it's not a 3.5cc engine!"

I've had them say to me in the past that it must be a 7.5cc I'm running, thru to It wasn't running as good today etc etc.

Hi guys

I would be prepared to build a vilan as well as having my WOF boat with the black snake on the back. Im easy both ways. I want to have good racing. And if I cant make it to any interstate races im happy to send my boat with someone else to race. (I willget Ian back into a tunnel one day :D )

Dave,

What do you think the chances are we can get O/B class happening in Adelaide again? What will it take? Can I help in any way?

Tim.

Hi guys

Just a quick question earlier in this post grim gave us his setup for the villian,

Just wondering his setup is RTR does this include fuel or not with regards to the CG.

Cheers
