That would be one of the reasons of tossing the original mounts in my Hummingbird. Too much noise transmitted through to the hull.
There are many areas to reduce noise on boats and to do that you must identify where the noise comes from.
1 - Standard exhaust noise
2 - Resonating exhaust noise (Pipe resonating)
3 - Shaft noise
4 - Vibration noise (transfer of vibration into the hull)
5 - Induction noise
All these add up!!! look at the european boats and you will see some serious noise reduction.
Having said that I tried a CMB quiet pipe on my 45 SG and it was the quietest boat I have ever driven. People were calling it the "Stealth boat". I had to change pipes because I could not hear the boat running over everyone else and that is with a 90db limit here in Australia.
