Some great info here! Dave, thanks for the oil chart! And all the great advice saved me one motor at least! Thanks y’all!
Years ago, the go to break in oil for my giant scale planes was Lawnboy. It did a great job, one gallon and then I switched to Redline. I used strictly aviation gas, it’s consistent, doesn’t smell and with no oil added will remain stabile in a jug for 10 years. If you read my article you can see that as far as power, the oil doesn't matter. Any pump gas as well as Coleman fuel are about equal. There is significant high end power increase due to ring seating. Since we ran a variety of oils, I don't think the type of oil contributed to break in. Our M&D Zenoah had zero drag seals so the seal contribution to break in didn't matter.

I have new mod 29.5cc should I do the same start with synthetic blend then go to full syntheticThat Amsoil is synthetic. You cannot properly break in a new motor on synthetic and Jeffrey's motor is new.
Eriel , fwiw - just run the oil you plan on running and call it a day. This is one of those questions that if you ask 100 people you will get 100 different answers. You’ve seen my boats run and there’s no secret behind them trust meI have new mod 29.5cc should I do the same start with synthetic blend then go to full synthetic

I like it so far I got about a gallon or two of that motul 800t but I need that for my two-stroke YamahasGood choice on the oil
In a completely different application.Any good 2 cycle oil and mix it at the OIL manufacturers recommendations. what ever the bottle tells you to.
after all it is a chain saw/weed eater motor.
It will work great.I have decided to go with Quicksilver Marine 2 stroke oil, at 10 oz into one gallons of Coleman camping fuel. We will see how that works out and make adjustments as we go. I’m starting simple.
This 100%. 8-10 oz, no more, no less, works well. When asking about the best fuel, you’ll get about a 100 different answers. On oil, I’ve always used the stuff in the pic. This was recommended to me by long time engine builder, Matthew Waldron, of M&D Designs. I’d be willing to try others though. Matthew will tell you all day long that you should just use pump gas and there are reasons for that. I tend to agree somewhat, but I do use non ethanol gas from a fuel oil and farm equipment dealer down the road. This will help with your carb diaphragms. Some use race gas, others use Coleman, aviation fuel, etc… It all works. In a completely different application.
8-10oz of good oil.
