Wow,

It's real easy to point fingers under user 'Guest'. And it's easier to judge things by their appearance. What if it isn't a copy but a good design that Leecraft and Magnum shared. One of the leading tunnels out there right now looks a lot like other tunnels that preceded it. And another tunnel has a direct copy of an older boat manufactures radio box. Then their is another hull out there that has a copied Prather bottom. So who's to say that it was not a copy either, but there isn't anyone posting cheap shots like this one those hulls.

I've got an idea, if we are all going to use 'Guest' why don't Tom take the sign-up and login off this forum. This is a tight nit community were rumor travels fast whether it's true or false, so why don't we all keep speculation to ourselves.

Oh PS

Their's another tunnel with a direct copy of a Dumas Cowl with a pointer nose??

Things that make you go.....HMMMMMMMMMMM!!

Re: A true story about "copying"

Back when I was still an elementary school teach, I had a situation when one student copied another student's answers on a math test. I wasn't really sure who had copied whom, so I asked both of them to step into the hallway for a discussion. Well, of course both denied copying each other. So, I just provided some helpful advice. "If you are going to copy someone's answers, at least you should make sure the answers are correct."

Over the many years I've been designing and building model tunnel boats, I've incorporated(call it copying if you like) ideas from other designs. Hell, you'd be stupid not to incorporate improvements. Rod Geraghty had a couple of good ideas that appeared on my tunnel boats immediately after I saw them. I thought Mike Z's idea for offsetting the motor was a good idea - it's now been done on my JD WOF 28/30 and JD WOF 34.5.

Now, if someone has a problem with that, well, I guess someone has a problem with that. Early on in this post, I simply said the Magnum looks like a LeeCraft. Yeah, I've even incorporated some LeeCraft design ideas. Not much sense of "Reinventing the Wheel."

well first off i do not know who guest is but it sounds like he has a problem with a hull that has been inproved and is for sale. if guest sales boats also it sounds like he needs to update his boats. shure it looks like a leecraft but it also has features in it that a leecraft does not have. to say that this is a COPY of a leecraft sounds like that it came from a person that can not read. first a leecraft is 26 in long the maginum is 29 in long now that is three inches differance also the leecraft is not as wide the maginum is 13 inches wide now for the important things the leecraft runs bow high, rolls over in the turns, the driver has to reduce speed in the turns, also the leecraft will not handle the engines of today. it would be safe to say that is why tommy lee quit making them. now for the maginum it is longer, wider, runs flat turns at full throttle and will handle even the meanest engine of today!

now for a little education the meaning of the word copy- a reproduction, not an original-a duplicate-a work written out from a model or pattern-to make a copy-to imitate-to cheat-by passing off a copy of someones else's work. as far as i can tell the maginum does not fall under any of this words meaning it may look like a leecraft but it is not. if any one looks at the two togather can tell the differance.

i hafto agree with jerry all of the boats out there all share a lot of things good and bad. acording to guest than all of the boats out there are copies they all copy the same shape, length, recesed engine mounts, ride pads .OH NO I JUST RELISED THAT MY HORNETS ARE COPIES ALSO ACORDING TO GUEST o i guess that i should not have bought the molds and rights from carl .

i also want to say to guest post under your name quit hidding if you are going to bash a persons boat be a man about it insted of chicken little.

well that's all i got to say for now see ya later jimmy eddleman not guest

So our guest thinks i copied a LeeCraft. It is to laugh. As far as i know Tommy or B&M never made this boat.Sure it might look like a Lee,but that is about as far as it goes.Apparently this person has built some boats by his comments. To modify a current mold that is almost impossible. Sure you can a plug but you might have to make two or three to get it right. Lots of time....... Im not here to bash anyones boats or products cause somewhere down the line i might need something. I thought that this forum was about helping our fellow boaters. Our guest has other ideas.Jerry D. you hit the nail on the head. You have a great tunnel there.Jimmy E. you also said it right. You too have a great boat. To our guest, be a man and quit hiding. As for the cowling issue, sometimes older is better. Have fun and happy boating.
