Here is a picture of the bow full foam and a piece of CF to seal it off. It's a little big and needs to be sanded to fit the deck. The front sponson tube isn't glued until the deck is joined. I think I will cover the wooden block under the rear sponson mount. Then I am ready to slap on the top half. ;D It's getting close. I am getting nervous, this thing is going to be a little on the light side.

I gave the sponsons the Hammerhead angle cut on the outside edges with the 1" belt sander, but didn't get a picture before I glued CF pieces back on. I will have finished pictures tonight.

Hey Mike

This might make you chuckle. I went into my shop the day after christmas and was going to lay up my plug with glass. I had given it about 5 coats of mold release and was laying on another coat, I had been applying the release to the top and polishing it off and then turning the plug over and doing the other side, I decided to stand the plug on its tail end to try and speed up the process, The thing slipped from my fingers slithered across my bench, fell off the end ,hit a metal stool and skidded to a halt on the floor. I checked it over, counted the dings, turned around and went back in the house. I started working on it again today.

Do you have any templates you could send me for the front sponsons

Thanks Mike

Mike, I find a special humor in what happened to your plug, I did the same thing with the rear sponson plugs, boy they get slippery with a few coats of mold release. I have a small ding I have to work out every time I use the mold now.

Send me your address and I will send you the templates.

The front sponsons are done except for the polishing.

I covered the boom mount block with 2 layers of CF for looks and a little extra strength.

I piled everything on the scale and it's 2.8kg (6.2lbs) still need to add the epoxy for joining the deck.

I made some motor mount hole doublers so the CF sides wouldn't cut through the rubber mounts. I covered them with kevlar to add some color but I don't think I am going to like it. It's in the vacume bag now.

Here is a picture of the radio trays made from the CF angle, the battery box is also CF angle turned on its side. They are ready to glue in along with the bulkheads. I wont glue them in until the top half of the hull is finished. This way I can make adjustments.

I can't believe it, My first mold. It came out really good to. When I was painting the black kechup on I was thinking there aint no way this is going to work out and I'm going to end up throwing the whole thing in the trash. Thanks for the help , Now I know I can make a mold, The skies the limit. I am going to start a web site to document the building of this boat. I will let you know when I get it up and running.

Mike

Way to go Mike, it's kinda cool isn't it. I wonder where all the air bubbles go. Once you get one under you belt your only limit is your imagination. Keep the pictures coming thats going to be a neat looking boat.

I made a foam dummy fuel tank to make sure that it would all fit and to use it to cut out the hole in the top. I adjusted the hole and sanded the foam tank, made sure there is room for some padding. now I can measure it and have it made.

I am waiting for a 500cc bladder tank from Hammer, If it doesn't fit I will have Grimracer make one.

Hey Propjocky that would be cool, maybe it could be built with a bladder inside. I don't know of any epoxy that would hold up.

Here are some pictures of carbon sheet I made last night. It is 3 sheets of 5.7 oz. Right now it seems flimsy, I guess it gets more rigid after a while. I got a little air trapped between the mylar, peel-ply and carbon. I think I need to sqeegee it better before I apply vacuum
