Racers,

You don’t settle for 2nd place on the race course so don’t settle for second place with the power system in your rig.

Life Source packs are used by some of the top pilots and racers in the country.

Don’t settle for second place!

Although LiFe cell chemistry is not all that different "TESTING" is.. get packs that meet you demands!

Just for the fun of it I brought in a 1900mah Life Source pack that I have been flying in my MD-530. This is the kind of pack I also use in my 4PK.

I had Les our battery dude re-test it using standards that we have setup for Life in the market (Our standards are the same as most others).

Discharge at 1C (In this case 1.9amps) down to 5V or 2.5V per cell. (we have a killer battery testing system, VERY ACCURATE).

Anyway, after a summer of flying, lets round that out to twice a month 5 flights (let’s call it 45 flights). The pack STILL yanked a number of 1830mah. WELL within the MAH percentage allowed for a go–no-go with the pack.

Mike, do you have the Life 500mah and the 850mah receiver battery packs in stock, if so how much are "The Good Ones"?

Charles.

Sorry but the smallest we have is 1100mah at this time.. thats not true we have a 200 but I was rounding up for ya.

Don, 2.5V per under load is the standard. Good question. If you decide to test this yourself be mindful that if you pull them down under load below 2.5V per you "can" and likely will damage the cell/s. Having said this please do not pull them below 2.5 per. Lets face it ZERO usable voltage past that point anyway.

To the rest.. IF" you feel our packs (or others) seem kind of large for the MAH.. its because they DO MEET THE MAH NUMBER! Its important to know that for the most part the cell cookie is the same.. its the way they are tested that make all the dif in what you are buying!

As a side note. I will be flying my 200mah LiFe pack in my Red Hot Chilly Pepper this weekend. Like our boats.. this battery CAN NOT FAIL.. if it does its a very bad deal.. and at .7mach!

Mike, the LiFe Source batteries are great. I have been using them since they first became available and we sell them at the store. The 1100MAH is too big for .20 and .40 boats and the 200MAH is too small. Something along the lines of 700-800MAH would be a good addition to the current line. Thanks

Eric,

Thanks for that Eric.. (Dudes just so you know you can call Eric and he can get you these packs ASAP) I am working with Shane (the Life dude here at work) to get some middle of the road mah packs made.

I do however myself use the 1100s (3oz) or 1300s (2.5oz) in all my boats 20 on up! The 1300 is the same as size as a 5 cell 2/3 Nimph cells pack. the 1100 is about the same size as that in a flat pack.

Eather way I do agree 100% we need to fill the gap!

Grim, What size Life pack would you recommend in a Laser 45 gas mono with a 1/4 scale steering servo and standard throttle servo...or is that too much load on the Life pack? I am just not that familiar with them as I am so use to FE and using the BEC to power everything. Mike

Eric,

I ran the 200's all summer in my: 12,21,& 45 and they all ran great.

I do think the 500's will give me a little more buffer though.

LiFe is the best way currently as far as batteries go. I am very

happy with the size and performance of the 200's and 500's.

Thanks for the great charger by the way.

Thanks For Reading,

Mark

Mark, I have used the 200mah Lifesource in many different boats and it is only good for about 6 runs in most cases. I have been using the 1100mah Lifesource battery in my larger boats and you can run it sun up to sun down without running out of juice. I have been using the Orion 700mah in my .20 and .40 boats.

Eric,

Do you carry the Orion 700's at your store?

If so, what is the cost of them?

Thanks,

Mark Sholund

While I don't have a lot of data to back up my claims; I am confident that the 200mAh LiFe Source can be used in smaller boats (.12's and .21's) for a day of racing. Assuming “a day” is 3 rounds. More testing would help determine whether or not they can handle 4 rounds (heats) of racing.

In the past with NiMh and NiCad cells everyone was voltage conscious not really looking at percentage of usable listed mAh. Sure you may have needed 1400mAh but how many mAh were actually used.

With the new LiFe and LiPo chemistry, it has more “usable” mAh (voltage) than the previous technology. I feel like there is a mindset that needs to be overcome before this style of battery chemistry is widely accepted as an RX power source.

Later,

Ball
