you can use picco headers, james used to use them on his twin, the CMB exhaust stumps are too big for the k90, picco will work fine

Dale

I went to Shimizu's shop today, and he recommended the picco header to me. I test fitted it. It fits fine. I will run as it is set up now for this Sunday's race, but I will change it after that. I got your pipe and tank today. They bladder tank is 18oz. that was the biggest one he had. I hope it will work for you. It is square. You will have to make a mount for it if you put it under the bow decking. I couldn't get the silencer for the pipe, so you will have to run it straight or put a prather on the end of the stinger. The pressure nipple is welded to it. I will get them off to you on Monday.

Hammer

That isn't right. The nut for the nipple is welded on to it. The nut will take a 5mm thread nipple. Do you have any? If not, I will send you a few.

I wanna tell you all that I kicked butt today with the Kingcraft K90, but I can't. Didn't even get it into the water.

The bearing case on the lower end of the con-rod came apart when I started the engine before the first heat.

I brought my O.S 91 and a mount for a back up, but the weather was terrible, so I didn't even bother putting it in.

There were only 4 people of the 30 or so that usually show up in that class due to the rain, so it wouldn't have been much of test of speed anyway. Because of the low turn out(6-classes) a total of 26 people, the association decided to have another race on the 24th of November. Better luck then.

I wonder, Dale if you have ever had them fly apart like that.

The guy who deals K90s here said that when he gets the engines in, he changes the bearings out with non cased needle bearings. He said if you don't, you will have to change it every gallon of fuel. I've run about 3 12 gallons through it. I told him that, and he seemed to be suprised that I had it in one piece so long. Hmmmm!

How about you? Are you changing yours out?

Hammer

Hey marty,

James was running the plastic cage bearings for over 2 years, with out a problem, i just changed mine to CMB cam 67/80 needle rollers, i have never heard of anyone braking them yet,

i have 2 brand new plastic cage ones if you want them, or i can get you some CMB needles if you wish.

Dale

Hey Dale!

Have you ever seen the inside of an OPS 90 Black Box?

The needles bearings I ordered yesterday are very similar to

the ones in that engine. First you take the back plate off, slide the

con-rod over the crank shaft, then put the needle bearings in one at a time. They are supposed to last 20 gallons. The hobby shop that I ordered them from said, that he has run 30 gallons through his K90 without a hitch.

Are the CMB cam bearings the same set up?

Let me know!

Talk to you later dude.

P.S. Mail me your address again ;)

Another thing that I forgot to mention, is that some of the guys said, that I may be running my low end needle a little bit to lean. I haven't touched it. It is the same as it was out of the box. Maybe the characteristics of the K90 require a richer setting on the low end than than the O.S. .91s do. I remember you telling me you use you 3rd channel to richen it up when you start and launch then lean it out as you get going. That might be the trick. If I richen up my lower end needle, it will have more oil flowing around the inners of the engine before the launch and when I'm milling.

Reguardless, I already ordered the bearings, so I will go ahead and replace them, and then play around with the lower end a bit.

the CMB are seperate needles like the OPS 90, the ops ones wont fit they are too big, the CMB ones fit perfectly, with the standard carb the bottom end is very very rich, that could have a lot to do with the needles not wearing out,

i still can believe that the needles are only lasting 1 gal of fuel, he is doing something wrong, very wrong,

email sent with address in it.

Dale

Hi Dale!

I'm not home right now, so I won't be able to check my mail.

The bearings I ordered are CMB if they are the ones that fit.

The guy just explained over the phone that they were

like the OPS ones, because I'm familiar with that motor.

Thanks,

Hammer

Hammer,

Sweet the CMB ones drop straight in, when you are putting them in it looks like you can get one more in there but you cant, thats the way it is suppose to be.

Dale

Hey Dale! I haven't got them yet. I will get them on Friday, put them in, and test them out on Sunday, if the weather permits. The weather has been pretty unpredictable these days. I will be sure to let you know how it goes. I will work with the low end needle as well.

The weather has been bloody hot here, bush fires everywhere covering the city is a thick ploom of smoke, not good,

we have one of the biggest race meetings of the year this weekend, Hunter Valley Champs, i nearlly have the twin ready to go after a few major problems over the last couple of weeks, i will always run lead teflon bushes in struts now,

ill get some pics of the weekend for you there will be around 12 twins there racing in x hydro!! i have some stiff competition thats for sure!!

Dale

Yeah! I know what you mean about lead teflon. They are t he only way to go in my book. Getting rollers wet defeats their purpose. I have never had any luck with them.

I wish you the best luck. Hope the weather and fires clear up before the race. 12 twins. Sounds like there is a lot of bucks rapped up in that class. Talk to ya later.

Hammer

i was lucky and the bore of the strut is perfect for the lead teflons, im going to install 3 per strut to give maximum support,

the weater is great today not too hot which is good,

average about $5500 per twin so about $66000 worth of twins , there should be about 15 at nationals if everyone shows up!!

ill get all the twins together and get a photo of them, its a impressive sight!!!

Geewhiz!

You can buy a real F1 tunnel hull ready to race with all the goodies, including the Merc for that much.

Hammer

they are not cheap to build or run!! the F1 tunnel would be fun! but i dont think i will fit in one!!

Then we'll have to get you an F2, get you to lay of that australian beer.

Got the bearings! I will get them in there tomorrow morning, head to the pond, and try them out. I won't be able to mail your stuff until Monday. Had a busy week.

You'll be racing this weekend, won't ya?

Good luck!
