USA Team members Steve Ball and Alan Hobbs earned spots in the Hydro Finals. Steve in 3.5cc and Al

in 15cc. Finals will be held Saturday morning.

Bad news. Poland protested the results of a previous heat race. The result is that Poland is in the 15cc Final and I am out.

That's the breaks. Steve is in the 3.5cc Final and we'll be wishing him the best.

The last Final Heat of 7.5cc Hydro Kevin was in the thick of it, crossing the line in second place less than a yard behind the

eventual winner.

I happen to be racing at the Can-Am race in Hamilton, Ontario over the weekend when he called and left a phone message letting me know that he had finished 3rd place. As I walked around letting some of his closest racing buddies know how he finished on the podium; I got goose bumps every time! I joked with several of his friends asking asking them “Can you imagine that sh!t eating grin he had?” I was fortunate enough to get this picture of him at the awards ceremony! (awards dinner maybe?) I am told the gentleman he is pictured with is a high ranking engineer (??) at CMB.

Sh!t eating grin - check!

WAY TO GO DAD

So freaking cool!

So freaking cool!

The story about the picture is even crazier…

Evidently Dad and the gentleman in the picture (I am sorry, don’t know his name) was having a discussion about traveling to the US to race state side. My Dad said that he had a list of races and their distances from where he would be staying in North America. As they discussed the races on his list, several of them were in Western Canada, and East to Mid-West US; Hobart, Rochester, Ontario was just a few on the list. During the conversation the gentleman said the he sent his daughter to a race in Canada that was happening at the same time they were talking. Asking her to “check it out” for him. At that point Dad asked, “Where is the race at?” Dad then realized the same race his daughter was scoping out for him, I was racing at. She found me, introduced herself, and was able to get the picture of my Dad and her Father together sent via text. She, in turn, sent the photo to me!!!! Evidently, she had recently moved to Canada from Europe.

Small world….
