Ours jumped $0.20/gal yesterday.
Yeah, we're screwed - crude oil jumped $1.70+ at some point yesterday. I wonder if I could rollerblade to the office in my work clothes? <_<Preston_Hall said:Ours jumped $0.20/gal yesterday.

Yup, it's spikin' here too. I fully expect it to surpass $3.00 gallon for regular BEFORE the start of Labor Day weekend. They sure won't miss a chance to cash in on the single biggest travel holiday besides Thanksgiving. The really F'd up part is what is happening right now with crude oil won't show up in it's refined state at the gas stations for at least 45-60 days even if there was no slow up of refining. It simply amazes me how they can jack you on just speculation. :angry:Henrietta said:Yeah, we're screwed - crude oil jumped $1.70+ at some point yesterday. So then we all should quit going to boat races or the practice ponds?? :huh:Jerry Wyss said:I think it's important to remember that "We" as a Nation can control the price of gas ourselves,, Just don't drive anymore than you have to,, It's just that simple.

...........Good advise if all you have to do is go to work and pick up a few groceries on the way home............... My entire business revolves around servicing customers. some days I drive 150 or more miles to do things for my customers. I spend between $100 and $150 for gas a week!!Jerry Wyss said:I think it's important to remember that "We" as a Nation can control the price of gas ourselves,, Just don't drive anymore than you have to,, It's just that simple.

**** straight because driving less ain't gonna change squat except to keep a couple extra nickels in your pocket.Jerry Wyss said:I just knew you were gonna say something like that Don , I would have bet my house on it.Lets just concentrate on the gas situation for starters,, and Yes, that means I will, and have been driving as little as possible for quite some time.

I do not have another option. It's either stay home and go broke or pay the price.....
One thing though, If I understand correctly........... The taxes on gasoline are based mostly a percentage of the cost. Why does the tax keep inflating at the same rate as oil costs?? It seems some government agencies are gaining TONS of tax dollars.................... Yet all anyone talks about is "those darn Arabs"!!
Unless I'm sadly uninformed, The people you put in office are screwin' you as much if not more than the oil producing countries..
Jerry,
Not to pick on you, but your comments lead me to believe that work, shopping, schools, church, etc. are within walking distance of your home. If that is the case, your solution of just not driving will work for you.
Some of us are not so lucky. I have to drive to do most anything........... I surely wish I could "just not drive"............ But me kids would not get to school, I would be out if groceries and most other commities in a week, and my business would flat die............... whatelse can I do but pay the price??
