If I go to the grave only ever using my firearms at the range or out somewhere in the country target plinking with friends I'll die a very happy man. However one would have to pretty numb to reality not to wonder why our government agencies that are 100% DOMESTIC based have been buying incredible amounts of ammo since 2009. And it's not just DHS @ 1.6 billion rounds, IRS just ordered a couple million, so did FEMA and even Social Security bought 750,000 rounds in January. Social Security??? What, are they afraid grandpa Jones is gonna beat them to death with his walker?? And why are these same agencies flat out refusing to answer Q's about these purchases even from members of Congress?? What happened to that promise made in 2008 about how this administration and all it's actions would be the most transparent ever?? Seriously though I have friends in the military and law enforcement and even they don't like what they are seeing with these domestic government ammo purchases and more so for the TYPE of ammo, these agencies are buying mostly hollow point rounds. Hollow points are not even supposed to be used during wartime as per the Geneva Convention because of the damage they do to a human body. I don't know of any licensed ranges indoor or out that allows hollow points to be shot due to the high risk of fragmentation if they hit something solid. Don't kid yourselves folks as these purchases aren't for practicing, h/p tipped rounds are designed to do one thing and that's kill, period. So call me paranoid but I sure as hell don't like what I'm seeing...........
Don, If you ever visited a social security office you would know why they would want the ammo. I had to go to the local SS office to get a SS 1099 form so I could file a tax return(yes, the feds are taxing 85% of my SS). If I'd have taken my cane with me I would have probably beat the crap out of the approx. 40% of people there between the ages of 25-45 years old and told them to "GET A JOB"..

Ive kinda stayed away from this one.....i might have posted something awhile back, but i just cant remember, too many to look thru to see if i did or not, but.....it seems to me this topic is just another example of why this country is slowly coming apart at the seams.....the far right wants us to be able to arm ourselves with any and as many leathal weapons as we want which is insane and dangerous....the body count over the last 10 to 15 years is proof of that......and the far left doesnt want us to have any weapons at all to simply be able to protect our families and ourselves, which is ABSURD! I own a gun....not crazy about it , but i do....hope ill never have to use it, but i would...if i had to....i do know this, if i had to kill someone to protect my family, or myself, i would never be the same...even if i was 100% justified in my actions, i would be changed for the rest of my life...the ones who scare me are those who say it wouldnt bother them one bit....ive known people in the military who have killed our enemies and were perfectly right in doing so who told me that even with all the training they had, when it actually happened, it changed them forever....that they would carry that with them for the rest of thier lives. Maybe thats my flaw as a human being....im in the middle, and i believe that compromise can accomplish many good things in this country....im no pacifist, but nor am i a macho, arrogant alpha male type either....God knows weve got enough of those these days. Just somewhere in the middle, which seems to be a bad fit in these times. God, it seems like this whole country is obsessed with extremism..just turn on the TV....Extreme Chef, Extreme Makeover, Extreme Fishing, etc, etc, etc......i wonder whats next? extreme yard work? Plumbing? Coffee? Its not easy to be so simple minded in such complicated times.....! God help our children and our Grand children...i wish i had the answer....unfortunatly all i can do is the same as many others...just ramble on and see if it makes me feel better or not.......!
Bill, You may think I,m some kind of extreme gun nut but I'm not. I do not own any autoloaders and never will. I'm a middle of the road guy just like you and in my 64 years have never harmed anyone with a gun nor do I want to. I just have bad feelings about how our current leadership in D.C.is manipulating the press and buying up every round of ammo they can find. Don't watch too much TV Bill- it will rot your brain :) .Glenn

I completely agree with EVERY word of this statement...... i wish to God it was wrong, and i could disagree....but i cant. There is something VERY wrong going on in this country,,,,and im almost relieved that a large part of the greatest generation (2nd World War) including my Father has departed from this world to hopefully a better place, so as not to have to witness this slow, but progressive madness.

Glenn I ABSOLULTY DO NOT think that way about you at all......NO WAY! Just read my response to Dons post....i only wish there was a way to fix this...but im TERRIFIED that its gone too far.....that this Government has gained too much power, and have become too corrupt for this situation to change for the better, without the possibility of blood being shed.....never in my wildest dreams did i ever think such a thing could be possible, IN THIS COUNTRY! Ive had 55 good years on this earth....what about my kids.....my Grandkids......my Great Grandson??? The only good thing ive learned, is to count EVERY blessing i have...EVERYDAY with my family....just look at what that what that MADMAN in North Korea is doing......as far as watching the news, at 6pm Judy and i are watching VIDEOS! I dont care if its MSNBC, FOX, or just prime time shows in general, ITS ALL GARBAGE as far as im concerned....wont even waste my time watching it , and yep, i feel better because i dont watch it!

Bill, Thanks for your coments-well said. I share your fears that the Govt. has overstepped and I probably won't be around long enough to see a change for the better. I hope there is a peaceful way to correct the storm that might be comming.

Watched a round table discussion of Senate reporters, a 30 min spot C-SPAN.

Senate return's Tuesday and Sen. Reid will bring up the bills to be voted on.

It seems the only item both sides has made any progress on is background checks.

People this needs to go viral. These Senators voted to let the UN take our guns. They need to lose next election.

46 Senators Voted to Give your 2nd Amendment Constitutional Rights to the U.N.

Over the weekend, we came four votes away from the United States Senate giving our Constitutional rights over to the United Nations. In a 53-46 vote, the senate narrowly passed a measure that will stop the United States from entering into the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty.

The Statement of Purpose from the bill read:

To uphold Second Amendment rights and prevent the United States from entering into the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty.

The U.N. Small Arms Treaty, which has been championed by the Obama Administration, would have effectively placed a global ban on the import and export of small firearms. The ban would have affected all private gun owners in the U.S., and had language that would have implemented an international gun registry on all private guns and ammo.

Astonishingly, 46 of our United States Senators were willing to give away our Constitutional rights to a foreign power.

Here are the 46 senators that voted to give your rights to the U.N.

Chris Murphy(D-CT) recently wrote a letter to Fox sports asking them not to air the NASCAR Texas 500 because it was sponsored by the NRA. Fox will air the race. Nice try Chris but I do not think Fox or ANYONE in Texas want's anything to do with your agenda.

Believe it was ABC evening news, a group of heavy hitter reporters.......

Question was: Tell me how the current Senate gun purposals would have prevented Sandy Hook ?

Lanza's mother purchased the guns legally, passed background check and was the first shot.

Mental health reform people, There is your answer ;)

Unfortunally Gene, Our Govt.will not spend a red cent on mental health issues. They dump that on the states- many of whom are strapped for $$ already. But our Govt. feels free to use the Sandy Hook tragedy, their families and children in the media to push their agenda of gun control, registration and creating more laws that will not be inforced. None of these laws could have have prevented what happened in CT.

This is why I brought up this topic of gun control or mental health issues. So far there has been no mention(or action) from our govt. on mental health issues and I'm starting to see how poorley the public is informed on gun control. You can not buy a gun from out of state or on the internet without going through a FFL background check. I am also seeing how poorley enforced the present background checks are. Our Govt. is not trying to deal with the real problem here and never will. All they care about is votes, power and $$$$

Not sure but, if you qualify with one caliber or gun it doesn't mean you can't carry a different gun, at least that's what I have been told about Tennessee.

I have a Utah permit, didn't have to shoot for that permit. I will get a Tennessee permit late this year or early next year.
Although states vary - A carry permit has nothing to do with caliber. its about the background check, safety, can you aim, knowledge of ordinances.

What you want to know from your state. is it a right to retreat type state or a right to defend state. With a carry permit you will never be allowed to take any situation to the next level.

They dont care what size car you drive after you get your license even if you qualified in a chevette.

"I'd rather be judged by twelve than carried by six"

From what C-SPAN is reporting seven of the nine gun bill / amendments failed,

With the last two being voted on tomorrow.

Do not be foolish to think it is over. If he does not get his way with this process, he will use an Executive Order to do it himself. And the terms of it will be chosen by him only and not Congress or an input from the public. He has done it (an Exec Order) before and will do it again. He is arrogant enough to ensure he gets the last word and it is "MY WAY ONLY."

If he could have used an exectutive order he would have already have done so. Meanwhile here in CA Feinstein's at it again-seeking a ban on clip fed semi autos and also a background check to buy ammo.

Reid, who ironically voted AGAINST the measures yesterday, is supposedly bringing forward for a vote two more gun-control measures today... it's definitely NOT over...

These people are morons... It's NOT the guns!
