Well, with the model boats, and guitars, and all the car shows my lady does with the Rolls, I figured this thing would come in handy. I’ll be attempting to do some graphics on the Lauterbach once I figure out how to use it. I have some vinyl on the way among other things.

I got one awhile ago and have done some nice decals for my boats and my full size truck window. I suggest you watch some YouTube videos and get the concept how to operate it. The first year I spent hours and hours finding different patterns and outline type things that I could save to my computer and then upload to the Cricut. The only down fall to the Cricut is that it limits you to 12” wide and 24” long on cutting out shapes.

One of the differences with this one is that supposedly it will cut up to 13 feet now using their smart vinyl material, which allows you to cut without a pad . I doubt I’ll need to cut anything that big but you never know. I have been watching videos here and there. There probably isn’t a better supported product on You Tube. Glad your experience with it has been decent.

I like mine...not no expert and the software updates every time I use it...but it does a superb job...

I got it set up yesterday, downloaded the software etc… I cut one of the test patterns on the sample of smart vinyl it came with and I was surprised at the speed and the quality of the cut. I did the bear file and the fact that this thing can cut something the size of the bear’s eye was even more encouraging. I have a Rolls Royce Logo SVG file I’m going to import and try cutting tonight.

So the attached is what I was able to cut out with little effort today. The weeding was a little tricky though due to the size. I bought the file for 1.00 on Etsy. I liked that it was already formatted as an .svg file. I Dragged the file into Design Space, resized, saved, and cut. I did have to weld the multiple layers as I am only doing one color. I then put it on one of my storage containers as a test to make sure it would transfer off of the transfer tape ok.

Brandon...all done with the iron or HTV type vinyl and Im guessing you mastered the multi color registration method...something I have issues with...very nice...

Hey Robert!
What kind of issues? I may be able help!
Yes HTV vinyl. Multi color was a pain on this. Had to draw two separate images and then multiple color layers and manual cutting on my end

For the life of me making the registration marks then multiple copies of the image and deleting what isn't needed...
I bet if I used the machine more often and practiced it would be easier.

You will love it. When you master the software you can make color decals-stickers. Simplest to start with are of course the mono color decals-stockers. Important to find the right material to plot: should be very thin, but yet uv resistant and very sticky.

which cricut did you get? Im thinking about the small one, I never need anything higher than 5 inches and it will do 13 feet long i read.

I went with the Maker 3 using the rule of thumb get the best one you can afford. It’ll do 13 feet as well using smart vinyl if need be. It’s really no bigger than an inkjet printer and it affords options like cutting basswood and balsa etc… Will I ever get around to some of those things, I don’t know. But the options are there. Others have done boat graphics with smaller machines successfully. It’s simple to use, way simpler than I thought. Doing 2 colors and weeding those layers will be a little more challenging than what I’ve done so far, but completely doable. The Cricut software is pretty cool. I’m guessing professional sign people would maybe be underwhelmed but it will do what I need and there’s a mountain of support on the site and on you tube. It’ll pay for itself doing 4 boats I would say.
