I need to build a 2:1 gear box and am having a hard time sourcing stock gears. Lohring gave me a water brake that is rated at 9,000 rpm that I want to use for some steady state testing, and I just enjoy building stuff. I will use it to test Gas engines so if i can gear it 2:1 I think it will be good. Anyone have a source for gears before I tool up to make them?

You might search for gears from the 1/5th scale gas spur gears from the Baja and other cars. There is probably a heathy aftermarket for steel spur gears

Preferably shaved crown if available. They handle the higher rpm much better.

That was my first thought, but could not find a combination that got me 2:1. I will look at some of the other suggestions.
