WE feel that pain here in chicago,

I was filling up yesterday and there was a sticker on the pump, said we are gouging you, and we plan on taking all your money.

It was alittle sticker someone put on there.

2.21 a gal

Tom

The worst part of all this is that the prices are based on "speculation" by the traders. They cite the unrest in the middle east, terrorist threats & other reasons that had been listed in recent newspaper articles as to the justification for price increases. Funny how nobody will put the stock portfolios of the major oil companies in these articles. They are out there if you do a little searching & the profits they're making will make you ill......

you ought ot live in Michigan! The gas prices went down slightly for Regular to around $2.079 a gallon but I'm getting screwed every other way also! My car insurance on my 2 vehicles, the '94 Ranger and the '98 Jimmy jumped up $100.00 a month! We are getting another little temporary increase this year from the State of I think $75.00 per vehicle. I went to get some steaks today for cooking out tomorrow and T-bones were up to $9.99 a pound! I got a cheaper cut of meat needless to say.

Oh Man!!!! The wife dont want me goin to the grocery store,

She says I gripe too much, Almost 4 bucks fer a gallon of milk!!!!

Maybe I should ride a cow ta work....Hmmmmmm....Here Bossie,Bossie  :p

Ditto on the insurance here too, up 35 % from this time last year with NO claims

OH YEAH, homeowners insurance up 37%, car, cycle, and snowmobile inurance up 25%, fuel costs up20-25%, groceries up (alot) and wages stay the same, but our fearless :( leader, GWB, says the economy is improving? not in my house!

As someone stated before, I too am parking the K1500, and getting out the bike, good thing it's only 4.7 miles to work!

here at puerto rico its at 0.42 USD a liter, 3.8 liters a gallon thus roughtly 1.59 a gallon ;) ... So happy living here la la la la... Anyways guys if you use premium you get more mileage out of your vehicle cause it has to burn less gas for power go try it out. when you divide your milleage ammount it $ to fill it up you will see its roughly them same.

$1.04AU a litre was the cheapest I saw here today. Thats 74cents US per litre or $2.18US a Gallon.

World parity oil pricing is the excuse we see used here. The gas companies claim at least 50% of what we pay for gas goes as tax to the government. The higher the price the more tax dollars they get.

I should set my car up to run on Methanol! It's cheaper and high compression isn't a problem!

Gene - you could sell the methane emmitted from your cow on the way to work!

With these prices,

I think I've decided to live the simple life.........Maybe I'll go Mormon. .............NOT!

Anyone familiar with the FUGAWI race ending in Nantucket? LOL gues what I'm doing this weekend :D

As I've previously mentioned and this article on the AP wire today confirms, we're getting screwed on "speculation"!!

'Fear Premium' Pushes Gas Prices Higher

By H. JOSEF HEBERT

Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A "fear premium" is driving up gasoline prices well past $2 a gallon. Motorists may be paying as much as 36 cents a gallon more at the pump because of the petroleum industry's anxiety that terrorists might disrupt oil supplies, a fear that increased with two murderous rampages by al-Qaida-linked gunmen at oil compounds in the heart of Saudi Arabia.

Estimates vary, but some energy economists said as much as $10 to $15 is being added to the cost of every barrel of crude oil because of fear that terror in Saudi Arabia, violence in Iraq or unrest elsewhere could disrupt future oil supplies.

The fear factor went up a notch over the long holiday weekend with the attack in Khobar, Saudi Arabia, that killed 22 people, mostly foreign oil workers. It was the second attack in a month against oil workers in the Islamic kingdom.

Oil prices surged more than $2 a barrel Tuesday, the first trading day since the Khobar attack. The price of gasoline jumped 6 cents a gallon on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

"There obviously is a fear premium," said Seth Kleinman, an oil market analyst at PFC Energy, a Washington-based consulting firm. While there always has been such a premium in oil prices, with the targeting of Saudi's oil industry, "It's gotten a lot further, and it's gotten a lot bigger."

One reason is that Saudi Arabia, which pumps 10 percent of the world's oil, is the only producer that has significant spare capacity to produce more as needed to stem demand and prices, economists said. While the attacks did not target Saudi pipelines, terminals or oil fields directly, the psychological impact has rattled the markets.

After receding somewhat last week, the price of light crude for July delivery jumped $2.45, settling Tuesday at a record $42.33 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
