I know you guys in other countries have seen this for a while. But with the prices around the $2.30 range here in Spokane our club races have suffered. We have had 3 races scheduled so far and we normally have around 20 people show up. This year we are lucky if 5 people show up. I am in shock myself, what used to cost $25 now cost $40. Anybody else seeing similar results at there races?

KC,

Gas is a mother! I just paid $2.39 a gallon for regular.......imagine I drive a Suburban w/a 40 gallon tank and get 15 miles to the gallon. It's a killer.

Yep, We have went up 45 cents more per gallon since Mothers Day and it supposed to climb more and hit a peak this Summer.

Far as a monthly budget goes, Im bout 250 dollars per month just on gas in my SUV,

And its a 4 banger, five speed,

Gene :D

Gas prices are not much better here  . The wife and I go through, I would guess close to $400 a month. Most of that lies on my Ext Cab Chevy. Not to long ago we filled up at the same time and it cost us a $100 bill and that was before it was over $2 a gallon. :(

I'm glad I have my little 4 banger car. but I still pay at least $30 a week in gas for just my car :(

I just sent out an e-mail to the clubs in my district (IMPBA District Five) giving them a heads up to this problem and warning them to cut the costs of the trophies to help defray the loss revenue from the lower attendance. We just had our first race of the year here in Huntsville and attendance was down a little we had about 45 contestants and a little over 100 boats. The club here spends close to $1000 for the awards and it should be a lot less than that in order for the club to make some operating revenue.

Here in the burbs of chicago, I paid 2.15 today, I dont use much gas in my car, work truck, but work truck goes through 2 tanks a week, put about 60 bucks in it each time. avg 12 mpg. i am one of 8 trucks in our fleet.

How freaking high can they go?

My sister just got back from cali and it was about 2.35 a gal.

Bad thing is, my car takes prem gas, or it knocks and pings.

Tom

Quit complaining. Just came back from our local gas station, $0.94/litre in Canadian dollars ($3.54 a gallon) Thats about $2.52 USD per gallon.

My Ford F150 is on the chopping block. $132.00 to fill it. (it has extra range tanks good for about 600 miles)

Glad I don't have to drive far to the shop.

Fuel for my airplane is even better at $3.16 USD / gallon and it burns 7 gallons an hour. OUCH!

Nitro is still king at $15.00/gallon ;)

its like 2.30 or higher around my place. good thing i cant drive yet. i ride my bike to get places :D

I'm with dark, the cars are going to be parked as much as possible.. maybe i'm not in as good of shape as i used to be but i can still do the 30 miles i normally drive a day on the saddle of my bicycle... the health store next to my work gives me discounts, so the "fillups" are pretty cheap......

on the other hand a deisel VW doesn't sound so bad either

My mom just recently purchased a Diesel VW Jetta. She gets something like 40 mpg... sure beats the 15-18 mpg I get w/ my Tahoe, man that 5.3 is THIRSTY!

Of course, I wouldn't want to try and pull the boat racing trailer w/ her Jetta either...

Later,

Lamar

I would not complain Try 5.44 dollars a gallon in London England.

and diesel in England is more expencive than petrol.

Ian

In Holland we just got a gasrecord, 1,30 Euro/litre, that's about 5,89 USD/gallon and I'm just thinking about buying my first car :(

Yeah but imagine my wife drives my kids everyday to school into the heart of downtown San Francisco. Takes her 45 minutes and a truck load of gas everyday doing this round trip. Today it was at $2.43 for unleaded at Shell. Theya re by far the biggest crooks in NorCal!

And it keeps going up by the day as the oil companies continue to dupe the public. Also what alot of people don't realize is the oil companies are quietly merging & gaining more & more control squeezing out the smaller ones. Mobil & Exxon merged, then Shell & Texaco followed by Amoco & BP. I sat across the street from a gas station 2 weeks ago eating lunch & watched the price get changed from $1.66 a gallon to $1.77 in a matter of minutes yet no truck rolled thru the lot with a "more expensive" load of gas. That same station now has regular at $1.98 just two weeks later. Prices weren't going up this fast back in the 70's when we had gas rationing & "odd" - "even" days you could buy gas. I'll buy into the costs going up some, but not almost 40 cents a gallon in less than 3 weeks. This is just the continued fleecing of the general public while the oil companies get fat. And please don't anyone try to pass this "refining costs" & "regulations" B.S. like the last time this topic came up. You don't think the oil companies are not making a killing, go try to buy some shares of stock in any of them .............. <_<

How would you like to be paying four times today's U.S. price at the pump as they do in Italy?

I hate to say it….but it’s going to get much worse. Some folks are really going to be feeling the pain in a couple of years.

I think I’m going to finally get that Hummer 1 next year :p ……since I know some local knucklehead isn’t going to be able to sate it’s thirst
