hey brian, you missed the last race in maine. well I just have to tell you it was the best water conditions for .21 tunnel. wide open all 4 heats. we don't get many days like that. looking forward to racing tunnels with you next season
Hey John! Yeah I was bummed I missed it. Unfortunately we mixed up the dates and bought tickets for another event with friends. It was a gorgeous day for sure, I'm glad you guys had good water. It was fun testing with you in CT, we'll have to do that again in the spring!

From the sources around the tunnel world I have talked to Charleston is limited to 2 races a year now as the adjacent lake properties are being developed. We knew this was coming a couple years back. Fall nats and a grand prix race are in place. RIP WTC. Best tunnel race now is the Southern Tunnel Champs in May in south Georgia. Times change and you just adapt. I would love to see another tunnel race develop. We have tried to get one in Florida but maybe too far south to draw numbers like Charleston did. If there was another event in a central site like Huntsville we might draw some Midwest and northern racers back in. At Huntsville you could also have a time trial day with scoring like the US-1 format making a interesting case for reviving the "World Title" Do it in the fall and we would have two true tunnel races to keep things alive for new tunnel interest.

The Tri-Oval in Brandon late in the year was a good time, if the right group revisited this properly it would make for a great event.

(I have no interest btw)

Something I have been meaning to do since my return to Wisconsin.. was to take some time to see Rod G. We talked boat concept and I showed off some of my newest designs and he shared some new ideas. This man is FULL OF IDEAS lol..

Good day Rod.. we will be in touch!

Sorry.. no pics.. you would NOT believe what I saw anyway...LOL...

I managed to get my new tunnel painted and trimmed. Took advantage of a clearing in our weather to get in more testing. The boat is definitely sensitive to prop thrust angle. It took a number of launch, run, bring it back and reset, and repeat. I'm not sure this boat is any faster than my VS1, but it running and cornering nicely. The prop is the same ABC 1515 I've been running on my VS1 and Grim Racer 50% fuel.

hey mic, would love to see something around the Carolinas for an ob race. I live in Connecticut and a trip to florida is a bit far for a race. if you guys have something in the works would love to hear about it. thanks

SOWEGA hosts a tunnel race, Sycamore, Georgia. The successor to the WTC in Charleston essentially.
Speaking of which, we need some more of them Tunnel heads back from years past.

Grim, wheres your crew at? A few months and everyones on the clock!

I could do one at our pond in northern virginia

IMHO - Jimmy Duncan's idea

and the Sowega Crew's heart to make it happen, make this THE premier Tunnel Race in the country right now . They have the best setup - plenty of room , great water and the hospitality that's unmatched. Besides, the Tri-Oval is just plain FUN

Not to mention, Kem and Julie Gilley , and the rest of that crew are some of the finest people in racing .

When Jimmy and I first spoke of this race a few years back, it was meant to be the sister race to the HSC -

Maybe one day that can come to fruition , there where many many good ideas to make the 2 races a series of sorts, would have been fun.
