Hey guys,.

I'm running dual tanks in my sp21 and I think that it goes rich when it gets the first tank gets empty. I have a sp40 almost done the same way and I'm wondering what is up with this. I know I'm not the only one that has seen this. I have run hopper tanks forever and never had an issue.

What if anything can be done to avoid this with the dual tank system?

Hi Anthony,

Make sure your pressure tap is clear and clean. What size is the stinger on your pipe? A smaller diameter stinger will give you a higher and more constant pressure. With a hopper tank usually being small you may not notice any change because you're emptying the much larger tank before you empty the hopper.

Thanks, John

Are the tanks hard pastic or the flex tanks.A small hopper tank as close to the carb as you can and you should be fine.

Think about it what is going to flow easier through a small tube air or fuel? Like Phil said run bigger brass tubes and fuel hose between the tanks.
Thats why it goes rich easier to draw air than fuel thru the cross tube. And flex tanks can cause problems too cause they swell under full throttle with pressure and when you slow down the extra pressure build up loads up the engine with too much fuel.

These are Ryans plastic tanks. I think I can add another fitting in the hopper of the first tank and run to the body of the second..

well,. this design kind of requires one on each side.. the volume of the single tank is not enough.. I might end up running just one and add a hopper tank for volume..

Tony,

Give me a call when you have time, I'd be more than happy to help you figure this out.

How big are the lines going from the exhaust to the tank, from tank to tank, and from tank to carb?

I have to run 2 tanks in my sport and it works perfect.

My 1/8 scale is going to have two 10 oz. tanks that are pretty far from the carb, maybe 5 inches. I can make a third, smaller hopper tank, fit right in front of the carb. Should I do this?

Thanks.

I run 2 tanks with no concerns. But I drilled the small tank and put the fitting in the left rear corner

Craig,

Call me and I will explain how to make the twin tanks work for your boat.
