i'm sure that set up would work andy. i got mine from that site as well. i use the flat ones on the rear corners of the engine cowl and dowl up front. the magnets self center them selves and pulls the cowl forward to meet the cockpit. i used 6 3/16 round x 5/32 thick to mount my canopy. they work great.

Should be a simple fix to the missing deck lip. Now if I can only find my dremel tool to trim this darn thing...

Thanks guys,

cept for Robin and Rick of course :p

Let me see if I can translate this-

" Andy some people have had good success with rare earth magnets-

Me personally they didn't work so well- maybe because I didn't install them properly or maybe just because-well-

I just can't type either ?

The only thing you can do is give them a try and install them in ANY other fashion than I did. :p "

Sincerely Robert.

:D :D :D

and drew thought he was "safe" from ray & myself  . thanx, tom :D !

No worries , after looking at my work this morning on the paint ( I'm pretty sure 7 beers was enough) It won't matter anyway - :p :p :p :p :p

You CANNOT make this boat uglier than it is, the bottom of the pond would make many racers in D3's eye's feel better-

Tom's gonna HATE getting beaten by such an ugly ride :D :D :D :D :D

"The ******* Pumpkin"

Magnets came in today- lets see how bad I can screw this one up -

Neodymium rare earth magnets totally rock. B)
I was looking here-

http://www.rare-earth-magnets.com/magnets.htm

And was wondering, could the "rod type" magnet be used on the forward end of the cowl with the " flat block type" magnets used under the lip of the deck, then a pair of flat block style on each rear corner ??? once in position I could notch the flat part of the magnets under the cowl on each side to properly align the front of the cowl.

Another place to get these magnets is here: www.kjmagnetics.com

If you look at the ring magnets in there product list and scroll down, you will see them in pairs. The pull force on the 3/4" ring magnet is over 33 lbs compared to the ring magnet from Magcraft at 5.8 lbs! I ordered some of these from KJ Magnetics for holding my sport 40 and scale cowls in place. I don't think there is too much that will knock these things apart. The only thing now is, I don't know how I'm going to get the cowl off after the race
